What's missing from that Vid is that there is going to be some kind of Sanity meter/mechanic.

@UncleLou Have you tried Survival Minecraft? Similar to this but much, much deeper.
Ah, missed that. Cheers, I'll have a look. :)

On a sidenote, the new Tomb Raider sounded in early previews like an "AAA" version of this concept (at least a little), but more recent previews ... didn't. :-/

Haven't played this for a few weeks and in that time there has been some great updates. Looking forward to the Insanity meter, winter and loads more crafting stuff. Oh, also adventure (story) mode although I might hold off on that until the official release. My most played game of 2013 so far, love it!

    This game is really compelling.

The devs have been slowly releasing new content and fixes to the game since it was officially released back in March 2013. Seems like they'll continue to add more content for the title, even after the initial buzz has worn off.

If you've never given it a go, I'd strongly recommend it to fans of anything remotely strategy or RPG-related.

Here's the video for the most recent update:

There's a steep learning curve to not starve, but enjoyable. I have put many hours into it, but it has been a while. Might have to fire it up tonite.

There are some maps where gold spawns out in the open (stoney areas mainly). You may wish to explore those areas.

I learned yesterday that this will be coming to the Vita (and PS4?), so this thread may need moving to the general gaming section. If a moderator could do the honors, I would be grateful.

Well I meant it as not having to use a pick and mine it. ;)

Gold is like stone/flint, found in the open and in rocks. But only in the stoney sections will you find gold lying around.

Well that's why I like the idea of dying on maps with limited resources. There is no way of knowing how far one spawned map will take you. What I find in most cases is that a decently spawned map will allow you to survive for longer without it being a bore trying to keep yourself fed.

    edit typo

    So .. PS4 owners Discuss!

A pretty steep learning curve. But i can see why this is compelling. Havn't managed to do much other than make a pick axe, axe, and some clothing. Still figuring out how certain things work like the trap - only realised you can set bait ( i was trying to drop stuff at first).

But it's very much a trial and error and learn game, and i like that side to it.

I just got this to download remotely to my PS4 from work. Anthing I should know before jumping in? It sounds like one of those wiki games ala Terraria.

Is there any persistence to it? Or a completely clean slate each playthrough?

Honestly, I'd try to read as little about it as possible. We are of course all different, but discovering the game for yourself is half the fun.

And no, there is no persistence (unless they have changed something fundamentally since I last played the PC version).

    Emo or Rage style?
