Sad news, he was one of my idols as a youngster.

    R.I.P. Patrick.

Now he's died, how long before he's accused of sex offences?

If only a senior developer that works at EG had been on the show...

Give me 5 I'm worth it.

I'm pretty sure I'm about the same age as you (28) and even as a child I knew the Gamesmaster was "that man who's on TVAM sometimes talking about spacey-wacey".

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

I never really watched it much though when I was younger. I didn't start playing games properly until I started uni! I just remember the programme existed more than anything.

No, Dave "Games Animal" Perry is a massive bell-end. He's clearly going for the shortcut, fails miserably and throws a tantrum. TV gold!
His most recent excuse was that the analogue stick wasn't centred properly.

Haha! That's great! He put his best cool gear on, made a double-dick of himself and then tried to appear cool as the hairy guy got the mermaids! Ha ha ha! Amazing fail skills there.

5 years as a bomber navigator during WW2. I don't care what else he did/said, hats off to the man. RIP.

I'll always remember him as The Games Master. Really hope he doesn't turn out to be a massive paedo.

I'm 21 and I have fairly vivid memories of Patrick Moore on GamesMaster...

Legend in my book. I wouldn't have the love for all things space if it wasn't for him.
And anybody who fought for (or is fighting for) this country deserves every praise going, and in my view is a legend.
That and the fact he wanted to sink the entire German nation.

I like the fact that the news reports I've heard mention how he died peacefully in the company of his cat.

R.I.P Sir Patrick. Your fat squinty ubergeek form always made me smile, and learn.

/insert "fiddling with Uranus" joke after suitable period of grace

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

The single most brilliant clip of GamesMaster, it really puts the special in Christmas Special. I could watch that until my dying day and never grow tired of seeing that smarmy bandanna-wearing cunt squirming like the slimy little shit he was. Shame he's not the one who's dead.

R.I.P. Patrick and the GamesMaster :(

I saw a few of his programmes in the 80's here in Belgium (yes we had bbc back then).
The only issue was that he was very hard to understand for us non english speakers.
I do not like that he's been called racist and sexist though, I imagine in the 1920's everyone was.

His main vice seems to be he hated the Germans. His fiance was killed in a bombing raid in WW2 and Moore was a bomber/navigator during the war. So while I don't share his views I can understand them.

Just read his obit in the Guardian. Quotes from him saying he knew his politics was loony.

Yes his politics were questionable. But we shouldn't let that eclipse the amazing work he did for decades popularising space science.

Death, the one thing Gamesmaster couldn't cheat :(

My first thought when I see his name is always The Sky at Night, rather than GM

Just a couple of days do I expressed surprise that he was still alive. Odd.

Seemed a good egg. Good innings as well. RIP.
