Registered 6 years agoI used my first warrior last night - Beregond.
At first I thought he was crap, but then I specced my belt for max melee (basic) damage, and went to town on Legolas. It was funny, that dumb elf was mashed in seconds.
I really, really like how different the characters feel: Wulfrun, for instance. A defender, but totally different to Eowyn, who I still prefer even though Wulfrun is perhaps an easier mob to play as. -

Registered 8 years agotried the demo but I have no idea what I'm doing and I've never played a game like this before. I seem to get frozen and oblitorated when I get in range of the other guardians. I'm playing one lane solo but can't seem to get anywhere... are there good tips anywhere to help a novice?GT: Rich 72 PSN: LordVelvet

Registered 6 years agoI reckon a warrior is a good bet: high health and some good basic damage. It's about knowing when to strike, when to hold back, and combining attacks with chums. -

Glimpse of new map - looks so different, is pleasing. I know it's only about aesthetic in MOBA, but the tonal difference is really nice.
I haven't been this fixated on a game for ages. I keep thinking about belts and things. It's retarded.

Registered 6 years agoWorkaround for matchmaking fiasco: Elite Battlegrounds.
Because it waits for 10 human players before even starting the countdown, you are guaranteed time to prepare. Also, it seems to pay far more attention to your party, and last night included us all, all of the time.
It's not any harder than normal either - necessarily, anyway. It's better in fact: all human, no AI. Lag wasn't an issue either. -

Having downloaded the demo some time ago, I thought I should really give it a go, especially after glo and MrTom were talking about it in our party last night, and despite my light-hearted mockery of the lore, once I played it I realised that ...deep breath... it's exactly the kind of stat-laden, tactical/strategic stuff that I love. I can imagine it takes on all kinds of combinations of characters and skills in increasingly confusing strategies, and I like the idea of that.
If what the EG review says about it, in relation to PC MOBAs is true, that GoM-e is slow, slow, slow, then I'm glad I haven't got a PC that plays games, because my days of playing anything faster than this are, I fear, long behind me.
I am wrestling with myself about buying it though - I bought those points ready for the festive XBLA sales, and buying new and shiny things with it means it will take up time I should be using to play Iron Brigade and Rise of the Martian Bear.
On the other hand, now would seem to be the ideal time to play it, while other people still are, rather than when the inevitable sale comes about and everyone is playing, er, Shadow Complex 2, or something.
Maybe I'll get drunk and absolve myself of the responsibility. -

I haven't downloaded it as I absolutely HATED DOTA2, but having read the review I like the fact there is no buying stuff mid-game - I really didn't like that at all in DOTA2. That, plus the LOTR setting, makes me think it's worth a go.
