...popped on for a (very cheeky) game this morning. My God. Don't ever play then.

Games were perfect. 5v5, no lag, no DC (other than rage quits), but.

Everyone was insanely good, at least Prestige 3, each, and played so well I've never been so spanked - although I broke even kill/death. We lost very, very fast. In particular, there was a Wulfrun who was exceptional: his whirlwind not only did enormous damage, but he placed it perfectly almost every time - you'd be in range of their tower before you knew it, and he was very hard to kill.

Larry sorry for not accepting your party invite last night, I'd just gotten into a game.

Mixed bag last night. First few games I experimented with characters I hadn't played before. Playing on my own with Nori was futile, and tactician hobbit was ok but just delayed the inevitable.

After that I went back to Lugballz for the first time in a while and kicked serious arse. I think this was due to the opposition being shite, still enjoyable though.

May be on tonight, won't know till later.

Might be a bit early-doors for me, but I may be on later-later for a couple of rounds.

Playing on your own is a very mixed bag indeed.

I tend to experiment in Skirmishes now, or Customs - not the same, but at least you learn the moves a bit!

I'll be on for a good while tonight.
  • Deleted user 9 January 2013 16:01:22
I can come and play tonight. I've tried playing solo with randoms but it's not a pleasant experience.

Red, you invited me to a party the other day then promptly disappeared what was that about?

Aye, soz - I had an important call!

Holy shit, when a game comes together just so for your team, this game is AMAZING.
  • Deleted user 9 January 2013 22:35:50
    That 1-Lane was immense :D
  • Deleted user 10 January 2013 17:41:23
    Overdosed on this a bit.

Still, Thrain is my new favourite. Him + AB cooldown gems = lolz.

Anyone wants advice on loadouts, I have some for Arathorn, Galadriel, Lugbol (sort of), Eowyn, Thrain and Haldir. Runsig, Nori, Ori and Mozgog to finish, I reckon.

Despite shite matchmaking last night we did have some fun - despite Gollum and Gandalf being the merriest pair of feeders your eyes ever did have the misfortune to see.

I'd love an EG 5v5! Anyone game?

Is it even possible to arrange vs. Games in this manner? I don't know what the limitations of the in-game party system are.

Anyway, Because of Xbox Live Rewards, MS have sent me an EXCLUSIVE REWARD which absolutely anybody can see by Clicking on this link.

It says it is a strategy guide, but really it is just some pretty artwork and a rundown of the powers of the various non-DLC characters. It's quite pretty, if nothing else!

Yup it is - 5v5 is possible in custom matches.

Maybe even possibly in Matchmaking too, a la Halo?

The lag and disconnects are becoming unbearable. I only finish about 20% of my games.

I saw a boxed PS3 version of this for sale in Game today which a) I didn't know existed and b) cost 30 quid o_O

My experience of the lag et al has improved enormously recently.

    30? Ouch.

Includes the Season Pass though, doesn't it? Not that it takes it up to 30, but it does make it seem less totally insane.
  • Deleted user 15 January 2013 12:08:57
Thanks to Bovril I have the season pass, very kind. Bert is fun.

I frikkin' love this game. Just went 18-1-12-4... with Eowyn.

Didn't expect that, did you noobs? Mwahaha! I also tanked 4 of the enemy team at once.

Must try to get some games in this week. Halo 4 has got its hooks in me at the moment.

I will be very pleased to play more games of this with you all.

Anyone fancy playing a game soon? Have been fiddling with DOTA2 and all I want to do instead is play GoME. It's just far less fiddly.

Happy to play most evenings but don't get online until about 10.30. If you see me, send me an invite.
  • Deleted user 28 January 2013 09:52:24
Sure thing both. With my new PC it's probably best if I suggest a time/day... say Wednesday eve?

Wednesday is ok for me. Will probably be online between 7-8pm and then again 10.30-midnight. Happy to play either of those times.

Played quite a few games of this over the weekend (on PSN) with a couple of mates and the only problem I'm having is the match-making, we kept getting put against guys who had 3-5 prestige levels, and therefore having incredible loadouts which we couldn't compete with.

Shame, as the rest of the game is a lot of fun, just sucks when you keep losing :)

Starting to find my feet with characters like Goblin King and Sauron, whilst also getting better with the likes of Haldir and Bilbo.
  • Deleted user 28 January 2013 15:21:12
Anyone at level 20 prestige 3 or above will likely have 10 full Mithril belts. However, you can get a full Mithril belt at level 20 prestige 1, if not before (i.e. don't buy anything else!) - you just won't have as much choice in who you can play as. But if you and your chums work out who will do what, you'll match them gear-wise pretty quickly.

    @RedSparrows Cheers, good to know.

They're rebalancing resistances and penetration, and releasing new Guardians today and next week - Radagast and Gloin, I believe. Probably a Good Enchanter and a Good Defender, I reckon.

The talk of rebalancing, and in such detail (devs are discussing it with the playerbase on the forum) suggests, perhaps, a patch for networking might be en route: that is, of course, if they can't cloud-fix what they want to...

I still really enjoy this, even after caning it for a fortnight. DOTA2 is great, but this is just so much more immediate: I love that you control the character directly.
