Just unlocked both 'play as all' achieves. Used ori in a 1 lane, he was fun - but we lost because a team mate went 1-15.

Registered 10 years agoWhat a relief it was last night to finally get a game against people who weren't all apparently full-time MOBA-dwellers, giving us a chance to actually win a game after being ritually humiliated by people who've been round the Prestige cycle a couple of times already!
Bought and used Ori out of curiosity - he's fairly weak in defence, but it doesn't take long for his abilities to do some serious damage, even compared to Lugballs, and having him specced for ability boosts meant that even if I didn't always claim the kills, the amount of damage that he can do in his generous proximity attacks left enemies horribly weakened for others to pick off.
I've got much better at using potions - saved a couple of deaths with speeding-up potions, although I haven't got the timing right for any of the offensive ones really. Have completely forgotten about using Commands again, though, which is just silly.
Bilbo Baggins might be the most annoying thing in the game! -

Am away from the Xbox till the weekend, will definitely be on for some more games then though. -

Still loving Thrain, I'm tempted to buy Thorin to try.
Anyone else think match making has improved too? I get the feeling the game has more players now. -

Registered 6 years agoHad a couple of terrible games with Sim last night where I went with my 'old reliables' Lugballz and Uglick and got absolutely battered. I then had a couple of games on my own and experimented, first with the elven archer who isn't Legolas, got on pretty well with him and went on to win.
Then after that I somehow ended up in an Elite Battlegrounds game and chose Thrain. Although his moves aren't as exciting as some of the others, and his field of attack is tiny, but he's actually pretty great. Anyway the game itself was a 45 minute epic battle where at a couple of points I thought we were done for, but with Thrain the soldier killer clearing the top path my team eventually triumphed. When this game is good it's an absolute joy. -

Thrain is quite powerful, as he has a lot of crowd control moves and can do some really nasty damage.
He + a ranged striker/Arathorn is a horrible combination. -

I expect more nightmares regarding teaming up.
Still, good fun. I keep trying to play Mozgog and it only works 50% of the time. -
We need some more Eurogamer matches. Get them arranged Sparrows!

Registered 6 years agoThey can hotfix guardians without patches: they've already done it three times or so, with Bert and Bilbo both having a little nerf, IIRC.
However, if someone plays him well, with the right belt, and gets a level on you... KAPOW. -

He does need a good nerf though (or else I need to find a tactic to stop him fucking up my shit and then teleporting away at whim)

Registered 6 years agoI think it's the sign of a good game, in a perverse way, when you spend a lot of time moaning.
Or rather, you spend a lot of time moaning, because you spend a lot of time playing the game...
As for Bilbo: he is like Gollum, very fragile. If you get a level on him he's toast, and multi-stun characters - e.g Thrain + Aragorn, will rinse him.

Oddly enough, even when in game chat, the only voice comms I've had with strangers have been positive, with actual talking about where enemies are, where dangers are and stuff, and congenial 'good game' comments, and the like. Not at all what I was expecting.
This doesn't mean that I don't regularly have games where a well-organised team steamrollers over any randoms I am with, but I've yet to witness any rage, although in games with other EGers, of course, we're usually in Party chat, but have occasionally dipped into game chat when we see mic symbols flashing. -
