I can confirm that the fancy wired "Hori 360 EX FPS" pad works fine and dandy on PC too. I think they have discontinued the 360 wireless adaptor for PC a little while ago.

    Steam
    ... then go to GOG.COM
Firefox with Adblock, Beef TACO, Flashblock, dephormation & Better Privacy extensions.
Windows Defender or whatever their freebie AV is.
    GFX drivers from ATi site.
When Windows 7 is installed spend a couple of hours in Windows Update. It's a pain but essential.

My other suggestions are motherboard drivers etc.

Yep, it is the wireless one that is a pain... the official dongle stopped being sold and I have a massive distrust of Ebay.

@kadooosh - They can be a bit dodgy. I was unable to play Planetside 2 or BF3 with a wireless adapter. Get some home plugs (roughly 30).

I got the MS adapter off amazon about 4 months ago and it's worked with every single thing I've tried

    @andytheadequate

Thid is probably a silly quedtion but are homeplugs literally something you plug into your router, into the wall, then into your pc?

Nevermind, read the description on play, seem pretty good!

Yep. Unless your pc is next to your router they are great. No set up involved either apart from pressing one button.

It may be worth seeking what your wireless connection is like store buying them though.

My big advice with pc gaming is to wait, at some point everything will be less than a fiver, usually within a year. In steam sales, wait for the flash deals to end before buying anything

I don't think anyone mentioned Ninite. Saves a huge amount of time installing multiple commonly used programs on a new PC with just one click.

Worth bearing in mind two things, first they will never be as fast as true ethernet and secondly they are heavily reliant on the structure of your electric wiring. This means they can be terrible or excellent depending on age and layout of your house circuit. They are by no means a cure all,if possible use a proper ethernet connection for your desktop.

Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

Love the pc by the way! I've spent more time on free games than I have anything I've bought!

Ghost recon online is wicked but doesn't seem to be many people on it..

Yes, it's excellent, makes an OS build/rebuild a piece of cake for installing lots of commonly used applications.

XBMC for your digital media. It's like crack.

And some money for the sales this month.

I wonder if HMV will be getting rid of a large stock of Logitech G15's soon.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.
