    Good man

    Back on topic though, they've repeatedly said that they know about the core of the 2 souls games, so they'd have to be pretty stupid/blind to piss about with that mechanic

    Right? Right??

    Something positive from that interview though:

    Everybody knows what the core of Dark Souls is – the dev team does, the fans do, the media does – and that will never change. I [wouldn’t] really care for Dark Souls VIII to come out. That’s not the point. It’s more, ‘What do the fans want?’ We want to stay true to what they expect.”

    They seem to be confused or better they want to confuse. On the one hand they want the to keep the original audience and on the other they want to reach the "But why don't they put in an easy mode" crowd.

    @Sonic_D

    It's probably best to ask this in the Dark Souls thread, rather than this thread, to save it getting clogged up!

    I hate that crowd. While they're at it why not make every boss battle a quick time event that doesn't let you fail, it just waits until you press the correct button.

    Please From, do not try to please this people. Your game isn't difficult, it just requires persistence and actually punishes you for making mistakes (such an alien concept I know!)

    You'll probably be able to play Demon's on your phone in a couple of years Ham.

    Or a WiFi breadstick or something, given the pace of things ;)

    Dark Souls 2 4Gamer interview with Miyazaki and Shibuya

    I have been nervous about the direction Darks Souls 2 would take with the change of director but this interview is reassuring.

    I think there's been much ado about nothing so far.

    Let's not pretend there's a lot of things that could be streamlined whilst not taking away from the core of the game. Things like having to give 30 humanity individually to Queelana? Seriously, that's just terrible design there. Why can't you just use the amount of souls you specify rather than one at a time? I have no qualms that they're not making it easier, merely making it more accessible. We're not talking waypoints, but maybe more descriptive items and slightly more explained stories. Maybe even a bit more clearly defined covenants and what they offer.

    Obviously, they might cock all this up and I'll never play another game ever again, but there is a lot of things that could have been more convenient without detracting from the soul of the game... pun intended.

    I just think too many people are worried they're suddenly gonna have push A to win game!

    Yeah, some of the things I wouldn't be fussed about being cleared up. Like knowing what you'd get out of a covenant by donating X item. Like a list of 'upgrades' that you could work and plan for.

    And the descriptions of things.

    AND!, a decent bloody character screen so you can see what level they are, what kit, souls, bosses dropped, etc

    Yep, be nice to return to a character after a while and actually know what covenant level you are and what Ng you're on haha

    @puddleduck Better to make it clear to the publisher now that people expect a Souls kind of game than when the game is already finished.

    I am relaxed about it.
    What I am curious about is if they gonna release it for the upcoming generation or go with the current one. Or both, an enhanced one and a tuned down one.

    Yep, somewhere it should tell you at one glance what kind of NG+ you are on and what kind of boss souls you already got.

    I hope they either confirm or deny a 2013 release. All this "maybe this year, maybe not" is infuriating.

    but cannon fodder, I mena lets say a dude dies 20 time in a row, and then gets promped to easy mode. He then can enjoy the game as well, as you can without even realising there is a easy mode.
    Both have fun, there is nothing wrong with that.

    @Big-Swiss:
    Some would argue that having an easy mode means dedicating time and resources to it thereby taking that away from "regular" mode...

    To me it's a strange thing, I understand more people should be made to enjoy these games, but on the other hand the enjoyment of it is so very much linked to the difficulty as to lose some significance when played on easy mode...

    That said I really miss the Hellkite dragon easy mode now that it's been patched...All I want is to pray at the damn altar of sunlight you stupid lizard!

    If it has to compromise so heavily, then I wouldn't want a DS3 anyway.

    DS is about defeating your own demons, battling your fear. When we're all in the depths of hell one day, you'll be glad you had DS to prepare you.

    ;))

    Would like to point out that these kind of places don't need a sequel:
    - blighttown
    - new londo
    - the depths

    @Big-Swiss:
    Once upon a time you could shoot an arrow into the Hellkite dragon from atop the tower you find a black knight on and he'd respond to this by jumping off the bridge to his doom...

    That's been patched, so now you have to face it head on along with its inferno instakill breath...

    AHHHH yeah, saw that on youtube, but when I bought the game 6 months ago, that was allready patched.........so I only knew the hard way.

    I was thinking that the hard way was the easy way, and that they made the hellkite dragon even harder......that was o_O me
