Dredd was superb and just what I wanted. I think the film I've enjoyed the most all year is Argo.

Notable mentions: Amazing Spiderman, DKR, End of Watch, Perks of being a Wallflower and them Avengers.

Still got a few big releases to go yet. Zero Dark Thirty looks like it could be immense. And we've still got The Hobbit, Django Unchained and Jack Reacher (though the last one is probably guaranteed to be shit).

But my favourite movie this year has easily been Take Shelter.

Love In Bruges. Funny, sad, dramatic, great acting, it has a bit of everything.

I have four films to try and see this weekend which could end up in my top 10.

Argo, End Of Watch, Sightseers and Amour. Although I think Amour will be deeply depressing.

Yep, not only am I going to do a 10 top best, I'm going to do a top 10 worst and top 10 most anticipated for next year.

There's still a hell of a lot to come out this year. Jack Reacher for one, I am quite intrigued as to how he'll handle the role. About as suitable for the role as written as he would be facing up to The Terminator. Oh hang on...

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

As with the gaming equivalent of this thread, I'm reminded how few films I've seen this year. I really need to sub to Love Film or something.

But... James Bond was very enjoyable and Batman was really disappointing.

I am disappointed with the lack of mentions for Taken 2.

Taken 2 was an utterly dire film, with barely any redeemable features.

    Get bent.

Do you go every day or something? I haven't been to the theater that many times if you add up all the times I've been over the last 10 years.

And those are only your favourites! :p

The Hunter. (released in the UK 2012).

Nothing else was able to rise above "pretty good" that I saw.

Far and away the best film of the year ... almost betters the novel in places too, which is an incredible feat.

I enjoyed seeing the Avengers (Assemble) very much at the cinema however, a shy over five months later, I felt surprisingly underwhelmed when I watched it again on Blu-ray ... oh well!

Dredd in FREE DEE was great too.

My surprise of the year goes to Men in Black III purely because I half expected it to be entirely forgettable yet it was actually rather terrific; the last ten minutes is superb and fairly tearful - a nice heartwarming story can go a long way.

    ParaNorman is brilliant as well...!

Not a bad year for films, me thinks.

Other films I have seen (at the cinema) this year ... The Dark Knight Rises, Looper, Moonrise Kingdom, Ted, Brave, The Amazing Spider-Man and Prometheus.

@ronuds I go about once a week, have a lovefilm and netflix account and go to a couple of film festivals. I used to work in film exhibition so I'd say I'm a frequent cinema-goer!

Really? Seemed quite a standard, throwaway film to be honest.

Anyway, I'd like to update my post with THE HOBBIT. Best film of 2012.

    Get bent.

    The Raid

    Avengers

    Moonrise Kingdom

    Looper

    Ted

    Cabin in the Woods

    Chronicle
    Martha Marcy
    ...possibly Dark Knight Rises

Judging by the above, it's been a good year for popcorn cinema

I actually think Batman was the only film I saw at the cinema this year and it was crap.

That's a New Years resolution right there.
