much more sensible scores coming in now, I think the Edge review will end up looking rather silly...

    Game Informer 8.5
    Gamesweasel 7/10

"TT Fusion has absolutely nailed the best parts of sandbox games..."
"I love how easy it is to get around town, too; you scroll around the GamePad minimap
and tap your destination, which is then plotted on the TV via a line of ghostly Lego studs."
"This is one of the funnest games I've played in a while, and it provides anarchic thrills thatshould keep kids busy for a long time."

    - Jeff Cork of GameInformer

    •Moderately high replay value
•Platforming is still a weak spot, but TT did a good job with the gamepad
•A 70's cop show soundtrack is great for the first few hours, but your ears will go numb beyond that
•Great to see Lego characters in a realistic world, but there is some minor screen tearing
•An original story based in the Lego universe

Well the official Nintendo mag has given in 90% and it was definitely on my 'to buy' list again until I realised there is no multiplayer!

I think that is a massive failure for a Lego game. I was hoping with the Wii U we may get more than two-player!

Edge 5 means "average", so a 6 or 7 by most scorers.

Still, bottom line is that it's nothing special.

More sensible? Have you played it?

It's just someone's opinion at the end of the day. Neither wrong or right, or sensible or not sensible.

Yeah, you can never trust any of the official magazines. Saying that though, Edge do seem to despise all the Lego games for some bizarre reason, so the most likely outcome is that this is a "7/10, good" game.

If they'd have given it 10 there'd be no questioning how sensible the score was, even if everyone else was more like a 7.

My guess is it's a 6 for most.

It's a 6.1. That extra .1 makes all the difference.

Lego games in general have never really been worthy of high praise, let's face facts. They're nicely designed and alright to play, but they're so formulaic you're basically playing the exact same game over and over again with very little variation.

Plus, looking at scores entirely out of context (or even worse, blankly comparing one score to another, even if it's an entirely different genre) is pretty idiotic.

I'm sure this will be moderate fun, but anyone that thought it was going to be amazing or anything more than a very good kids game was a bit deluded in the first place.

It will probably be exactly like the other lego games; great for children and the easily pleased.

Although it may well be the most accurate. As mentioned 5=average.

Know soon enough when it hits the shelves. I thought this would be the game which would turn me to buying a Wii U. It's not.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

All I know is my son who is 5 95% of the time when I say do you want to play on the Xbox, it will be Lego SW, Batman, Batman 2, or Lego Pirates...

He did not get on so well with the Indiana Jones ones

I would think Pirate, Batman and Star wars are the key factor in those ones.

Lego City theme is way less likely to capture those kids imaginations.

Nobody gives a shit about the Lego City brand, the promise of this game was that it would be GTA but funner. Now it's GTA but shitter and for little kids.

Are review scores from Game Informer and Official Nintendo Mag being held aloft as proof Edge was wrong?! Yeah... Both such reliable publications.

But it was never likely to be that, I'd imagine it plays like a debatmaned version of the hub world bits in Lego Batman 2, which while great fun, wasn't what I would call mechanically excellent - specifically the driving was pretty pants, mitigated somewhat by the fact that it was the batmobile et al you were driving.

The chances of this being anything other than iteratively better than that were always slim to nil. I love Lego as much as the next man but I'd be surprised if anyone actually thought it might be anywhere near the league of a GTA.
