Well, here we go, a dedicated thread!. |
Had another hour with ZombiU last night - personally, i think its excellent so far. More realistic than most zombie games and all the better for it.

Great stuff! I got FC3 yesterday, but this clicked for me in a way that didn't. Love the atmosphere, the sound design, the gloom.
Some have said it looks like a PS2 game, I don't see it. I think it looks really great. The filters on the 'camera' are fantastic too.
And, so far I'm not bored of batting the heads of oncoming hordes. Something I expected to hate from the off.
One thing though, anyone else find themselves actually scared to use their gun?
Still to try
Just used Game pre order to fund game puchase. Rip off price but nothing new with Game

This is the only game I want to play on the Wii U. This is the sort of zombie game I have been after for a very long time but paying Ł320 to play one game seems a little excessive.

Was the first game I tried, made the controller feel massive, but once i get used to that it felt great in terms of atmosphere and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the end of the world.

This game is tough. I didn't get too far in my first hour, but when I eventually died, I died 4 times in a row! Enjoyed it very much, until then lol.
I'm watching it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COMSG07Fos8&feature=autoplay&list=ELEHZ1tVpDWbI&playnext=3
Game looks pretty average, but the guy playing it is funny, total coward.
Game is far from average. Ubi done a good job tbh
Combat is terrible, which I guess you can excuse given the "survival horror" aspect of the game, but I personally woudn't. You can still have tense gameplay with decent combat.
I wouldn't say the combat is poor. I had no problems with it. It works. I can aim perfectly well. It's just the zombies. They're rock solid. As soon as you realise that though, you don't fight them unless you absolutely have to, and when outnumbered, even 2-1, you run the fuck away.
I'm really enjoying this. It's actually quite tense. The slow pacing is quite refreshing too.
From what I've seen multiple zombies isn't a problem as long as you get your positioning right, even without heavier weapons.
I have avoided using all guns so far, although there is a turret gun right at the beginning of the game. Tempting, but I imagine it would attract a lot of attention.
This game is TENSE! I survived for a very long time but became too confident and died. Its similar to Monster Hunter in the sense that the game levels you up and not so much your in-game character.
There's a saying that goes "preparation is half the battle" and its more true for this game than any other.
Was. cruising, then had my first proper stand off defend the safe house, died 3 times in row! Had 2 mines, 3 molotovs, 30 bullets, 6 flares,... All gone. Only realised later that 1 flare and a Molotov would've done trick...
Hard as nails, prettier than I was expecting, don't let the game lul you into thinking you're safe!

I'm glad i'm not the only one who lost a few people to the safe house defense. I lost quite a bit of ammo because of that. Luckily found somebody elses fallen survivor who got me back in the game.
My next plan of action is to find my last character, he's got a lot of good stuff on him. Luckily I actually put a couple things in the box this time.
At the part MatMan562 and javvyman mentioned I found a very cheap trick that got me through it with just the cricket bat.
After exiting the safe house turn right and you will find this obstacle that you can crawl under, go through it and when the zombies try to get you they will have to crawl under to get you. Because the zombies are on the ground you can do the quick finisher with the bat.
Here's a bug that really.. bugged me. Disappearing zombie corpses, I shot a few with my crossbow so I should be able to retrieve it but some of those zombies vanished. Normally a crossbolt to the head will kill a zombie but in the event it doesn't I should still be able to retrieve it after I've killed the zombie. I am very conservative.

Neat trick, I'll keep that in mind. If only I didn't keep loosing my shit going wild with the bat every time I come across more than 2 zombies...
I've seen the guy who is doing the videos exploit that. Quite effective.
It's not as easy as it looks
Got it but not played it yet, from the user feedback I've read the tension and atmosphere create a genuinely frightening survival horror.
Is this accurate? Sick of playing survival horrors that aren't actually frightening *cough* resident evil series since 4 *cough*
Outrageous moderation. I demand to know the culprit.Quoted for abject modfail closing a thread for duplication when the original was dead and then reopening the original STILL without moving everything into one place (surely that's what merging is for?If it doesn't do that then Craigy or someone should really abolish the existence of the "merge" justification as I thought that was the whole point of having it separate from the "duplicate" lock.
Anyway, whoever it was - you're better off admitting it otherwise the other online mods will share equal suspicion for your brainfart! We deserve our five minutes of immunity against mod mockery!

MrTomFTL just went offline. Let's all blame him, then beat him up.
Oh he's back now. Quick, everyone hide.
Fucking rats on the radar. Paranoid enough about firing my guns
Crows and rats = bastards!
Good thing scanning the white dots reveals them as 'animals'
