Just giving a heads up to everyone who is a part of the Network Premium scheme. You can apparently redeem your points on either the Wii U eShop or the 3DS eShop. If i'd known this earlier, i'd have put the funds into my 3DS.

The points that you redeem from the red cards that come in a new game?

No. I mean this. Basically, if you bought a Premium Wii U you automatically join this reward scheme. With every game you buy on the Wii U eShop you collect points. It's not amazing, but you'll earn a point for every 10p you spend. When you reach 500 points you can redeem a fiver for either eShop.

It's a small return, but if you're looking to build up a Virtual Console Collection, or you just want everything from the eShop, you'll rack up the points soon enough. I've already had my first 5 back.

Damn me and my 'basic' pack, I'd never normally buy the basic model of anything but it was so damn cheap! (100 quid with Zombiu, Mario, Nintendoland and a wii sensor bar) that I couldnt turn it down, I guess I've had my bargain so I can't complain that much.

Not sure how much eShop stuff I'd buy anyway unless they release a pullblox, I haven been that impressed with my 3DS purchases like Potzols puzzle or mighty switch force. Whilst I appreciate they are half decent games I feel like they are a little over rated

@Raiko101 I'd forgotten all about that, but seeing as I've only spent about 60p on there, so far, it's not like I'm expecting any rewards any time soon.

@YenRug That's a fair point. It's quite empty there at the moment. Again, unless you're looking to build up a retro gaming library, it's going to be a while yet before you see any returns.

    Better than nothing I suppose.

I had some left over change on the eShop, so bought that EDGE game. For anyone remotely interesting, I recommend picking it up. It took me a few levels to pick up the controls, but i'm rather enjoying it. The music is top notch and the levels are quite fun. There's a lot of variety after the opening few stages and they get quite tough, quite quickly.

In a weird sort of way it reminds me of Marble Madness. Only more blocky.

    Edit - I should probably mention it's 1.79.

What is the consensus with Nano Assault Neo now that it's been around for a while. Eurogamer slammed it for just being system launch fodder, but I have seen more positive reviews elsewhere on the internet.

I like to have a twin stick shooter for those 'hmmmm what shall I play' moments. Super Stardust and Geometry Wars are high watermarks though.

I enjoy it, it's pretty, challenging and fun.
I'd wait for the next time it's on sale and get it.

It's an alright game. The controls are tight, the visuals are great. There is perhaps a lack of variety with enemies. That and it's very short. I did enjoy what I played of it, though.

I'd also suggest waiting for it to go on sale.

I've been very dissapointed with the Wii eShop, especially the Virtual console.

It's great that they finally have Earth Bound, and have brought back classics like Super Metroid and F Zero but where are the other games and systems. They only have a handfull of NES and SNES games, where are the Megadrive, N64, TG16 etc.

There are so many classic games Nintendo could be releasing... I know we have had the same on the Wii and 3DS but at least things picked up a bit with them. The Wii U has been out now for around a year and the VC release's save for the above SNES games have been pitiful.

@figaro7 I've been keeping an eye on it. It does look rather good. The only opinions i've heard are that it's almost a Marmite game. You'll either enjoy it or get bored of it part-way through.

For anyone who downloaded NES Remix there's a new update available that adds support for the Pro Controller, Classic Controller and Wii remote.

It's not amazingly exciting news, but I for one enjoy my NES games more with a Wii remote.

For anyone else interested in the slow-moving Virtual Console scene, the original Castlevania is up for sale tomorrow. I absolutely love it. It's a clunky game, but once you get over the controls, it's pure retro gold!

Looks like the Wii U Virtual Console might be picking up some steam, after all. Super Mario Kart (SNES), Ninja Gaiden (NES) and Mighty Bomb Jack (NES) all hit the Virtual Console on the 27th. If you didn't already know, purchasing Super Mario Kart will get you 5.49 off of the digital price of Mario Kart 8.

F1 Race Stars is a tenner, but there's not much else in the way of modern releases. Not sure when we'll be seeing some more indie game releases, though Nintendo have said that 17 titles are ready for the eShop, with another 50 not too far off.

Any idea if SNES MK is 60hz? Please let it be so.

@yegon According to the press release this is the US version of the game, so that should be 60hz

    @Raiko101

Yay! Really hope it is. Had a US SNES back in the day, was quite horrified how slow the pal version felt when I first played it. Just look at the the comparative time trial times, the world record for Mario Circuit 1 is about 8 seconds faster than you ever hope to get on the PAL version.

SNES MK remains far and away my fave MK, it was a racing game first and a party game second, unlike pretty much all it's sequels. Can't really comment on multiplayer in Super Circuit, only ever played it single player.

Super Circuit is a solid game, but I prefer the original, myself. The controls weren't quite as tight as they are in Super Mario Kart, but it makes things a little more challenging, I suppose.

Mario Kart 7 is my favourite though. Closely followed by Mario Kart DS.

Yeah, I quite like the DS/3DS versions, it's the big versions I always buy and always get disappointed with.

Thanks Raiko for the (Nintendo Network Premium) heads-up. I knew about the points accumulation (8 points for every Pound/Euro spent) but there is very little info on redeeming or knowing your points total unless you visit the website.

I actually have 967 points which equates to a 5 redemption code with 467 remaining, leaving only 33 points for another 5 code. I might download the new Star Wars tables after I've been shopping; only costing 2.99 is justification for a purchase.

Upcoming GBA Virtual Console games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nkrQmlmeYc&feature=youtu.be

Pretty fine list, even if most of them would be better suited to being released on the 3DS (and many of them were on the ambassador program). I'm definitely willing to pay 6 to play through Golden Sun again.

So what do people feel about the pricing of the GBA games? I don't quite understand why they're carrying a higher price tag than SNES games, but i'd happily scoop up the games I don't already have on my 3DS.

I can't believe some people were expecting a couple of quid, tops. I don't see why age should influence a games price if it's a genuinely good game. Fair enough, i've bought some PS1 games from PSN at mighty cheap prices, but some of those games are genuine classics and are worth more than they go for.

They're ridiculous. I could buy a Micro or SP and all the games on cart, from which Nintendo would make nothing since they only exist in the second-hand market now, and it would cost me less than buying a handful of their ROMs.

If I use my Stars to get Wii points cards on Club Nintendo, and then:

Use the Wii points to get Super Mario Kart in the Wii mode eShop
Upgrade to the WiiU VC version for 1.49 in the WiiU eShop

Do I still get the eShop discount for Mario Kart 8?
