Now I'm trying to remember the name of the game I had on the Commadore Plus/4 (that we got because at the time the local council was 'upgrade happy' and would ditch their computers for the latest model every year, so my dad just took it home instead of seeing it ditched).

Now from what I can remember it sounds like it was Rex (the game where you play an Anthropomorphic Rhino in a mine) but the problem is that I can't find any sign online of Rex being released beyond the Speccy, not even a clone or port of it to the Commadore.

So anyone actually have any knowledge of this? Would kind of like to pick up a ye olde Commadore 16 again for schmits and giggles.

I can only find this, which looks to be c64 only - http://www.gamesthatwerent.com/gtw64/rex/

Rex was released in 1998 for the Speccy, the chances of there being a C16/Plus 4 port would seem slim at best. 64, maybe, but squeezing it into 16k would seem practically impossible.

    Dancing Monster?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Ha ha, no! That's 1988, obviously. Blame lack of coffee! :D

Yeah thats the thing, from what I can remember it looked like Rex, a vastly more basic version of Rex admittedly but all I can remember about it is anthropomorphic Rhino in a mine and the only retro game that even remotely gets close to that is Rex.

Mind you the other trouble is that there was just soo much tat for the C16 that it has probably been lost to the annuls of history.

Googling has told me that Llamasoft (Jeff Minter natch) wrote a game called Rhino for the Commodore PET... Could that have been it?

    Gears of War 3

A map is like comparing velocity and speed.

"One of the games we made was called Rhino, where the player had to manoeuvre for as long as possible to avoid enemies that constantly took steps towards him, in a vaguely Robotron style (the advancing ‘Rhinos’ were represented graphically by using the PET's Pi character)."

Bah screw it...I'll get Fire Ant instead of trying to find this, I remember enjoying Fire Ant, Treasure Island (god was I disappointed by the "Congraturations!" style screen when I finally completed that..not even a crappy pixel image of a boat...just some text) and Thrust.

The only PLus 4 game I can remember was Icicle Works.
    Man I loved that game.

God yes we had Icicle Works too!

Another one added to the list.

Really wish me Dad hadn't sold off the huge box of about 100 Commadore 16 games we had (back when videogames cost £1.99 you could afford to buy one a week).

I never had a plus 4, but I still miss my 64. And my speccy. Emulators are ok, but it's just not the same!

Remember the completely white cassette covers? All they had was the title of the game on!

I remember once pressing all the function keys and discovering some bizarre debug menu thing. I think I tried to write a transformers story in it, hoping it would turn into a game :D

heh. I never got far in it either. I think that's why I want to play it again :) Totally addicted to flip screen platform games.

Ah man, I've got that IK music playing while I'm working - it's giving me goosebumps!

Oh god yes that was it...IIRC the bastards used the C64 screenshots on the back of the cassette that made the game look way more awesome than the horrible version you got.

Right another game, it featured a constantly bouncing ball and you had to time your jump over things like cactus, spikes and such.

Hell this is so long ago mind you that for all I know I could be just imagining this stuff...

Edit: Nevermind, found it, twas Powerball.

God that game got bastard hard...

Strange thing is, having now watched a video of it, I'm going "I remember the graphics were better than that..." oh the imagination of a child can do wonders to such things.

Must admit, it does look a bit bobbins. The sprites at least.

the bouncing ball game - was it horizontally scrolling?

    Edit - never mind :)

Does anyone know of a game, think it was on the spectrum or C64, you played as a big pink man with jeans and you sort of jumped around the screen

I think you could customise your appearance a bit
