    That premise really doesn't sound all that interesting, but I have faith that Bungie will do a good job. Will be interesting to see how they redefine the FPS as we know it though.

    Edit - I think 'Destiny' is a shite name for an epic sci-fi FPS too. I'm sure it'll make sense in the context of the game, but it just sounds a bit... limp.

    I've kind of wanted a high quality/polished MMOFPS game for a while, so hopefully this will be something epic as I am sure Bungie will deliver something at least worth looking into. Hopefully it won't come with any kind of subscription though... as I am sure Activision would love to have another product that constantly drips large amounts of money into their pockets.

    Some of the leaked artwork from the press pack looks very Promethean (Halo 4 not the film) though.

    An obvious idea might be to release the game on the next generation as well when that comes along and continue to expand it on those platforms, as it sounds like they are planning to 'grow' the game over time like any other MMO.

    didn't Square-enix manage to release a game that was not only cross-gen but also cross-platform? FFXI wasn't it?

    i don't know how they're going to pull it off but i like their ambition.

    If this is coming out in October, I'd expect a heck of a lot more to reveal than that.
    I know Bungie are the masters of drip feeding teasers about forthcoming announcements but sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

    Well the full reveal is tonight, the leak is just the press pack that journalists and retailers were given this week. I'd imagine we will see a trailer tonight.

    Not been following this lately but trying to Remember what was in that document that started off the whole Bungie/Destiny story

    Wasn't the first Destiny game meant to be a timed Xbox exclusive

    With planned sequels released every other year and DLC code named Comet released in the years between.

    If you look at the leaked info (are we allowed to link to them on here?) then it appears to be simultaneously releasing for the PS3 and 360 this October, so sounds like it wouldn't be exclusive, doubt Activision would allow them to sign exclusive deals for such a big game anyway.

    And lets not forgot one of the reasons Bungie left Microsoft was so that they could break away from exclusive releases.

    Bungie was allowed to do a PS3 version for launch if it was possible, turns out it likely was. Otherwise it would be Xbox exclusive for the first year.

    Only thing I'm a little worried about is it being a current title rather than next gen. They surely can't go beyond Halo, BF etc.

    It said in original contract they weren't going to release first one on ps3 due to lack of experience with console. Activision agreed, wonder if outsourced? :/.

    Wish they held it back for next x box launch.

    For all we know it might be next gen and this reveal will just say available on next gen consoles although on most of the leak photos it has Xbox 360 symbols with no ps3 symbol.

    The main problem I can see with a MMOFPS is that the majority of people that play FPSs on the current gen consoles are cunts.

    There is absolutely no way gamers are going to work together.
