I liked the episode where Charlie had sex with Jesus.

O_o wtf. They really do live onanother planet don't they?

"Anybody that has been attacked by them will tell you ... they're worried [that] they could not find that pleasure with mortal people," says Adams, who claims she was once possessed by sexual demons.
So in other words, she flicks her bean a lot but feels guilty about it.

I would live to know what he considers a good Christian comedy show...

Two and a Half Men is dire. It is not as if you don't require a certain skill to write this stuff but it is lazy and formulaic as fuck.

Good lord no, you're thinking of My Family, the stupefyingly awful show that the bbc has been shitting out for the last decade.

IIRC, Modern Family is an american show focussing on a typical middle-class family trying to cope with the trickle-down effects that the financial crisis imposed on the average joe.

I thought it was more about stereotypes. The soccer mom, under confident dad, teenage kids, granddad who marries a hot young Mexican lady, gay sibling and his partner adopt asian baby. It's great, actually I haven't watched it for a while.

I think it's fairly safe to say that as far as quality comedies go the US has far more than British TV. Peep Show is very much the exception in a sea of Miranda's and that weird Irish cross dressing thing.

Quite the opposite in fact, their lives seem totally untouched by any financial troubles.

There is a ridiculously high number of people in this thread who haven't watched Modern Family.

Phil Dunphy is one of the greatest comic characters of all time, right up there with Basil Fawlty, David Brent and Alan Partridge.

    Modern Family?
I'd say it's more consistent than Community. But when Community is 'on form' not a lot can touch it in terms of inner geekness.

Yeah Modern family is consistently great. It's a bit like claiming UK comedy is shit having not seen Peep Show!

So Modern Family is a dependable workhorse whereas Community is a temperamental stallion?

The Dean and Mr. Chang were funny only as peripheral characters.

Bestiality aside, I just wanted to know whether MF has creative writing or is just polished formulaic dross. I can deal with inconsistency as long as it stems from an effort to experiment and take risks (e.g. Louie).

Parks & Recreation and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are my current favorite American comedies.

Also a fan of The Phil Dunphy.

Hes hardly ever in it thanks to him being a terrible, terrible actor. The mrs puts it on occasionally all it is now is the wacky adventures of ducky. Hes been flanderised to the point of insanity and the fat kid is nowhere to be seen.

They could probably never write another scene with him again and no one would notice.

    He totally called it

Fresh Meat is excellent. The second series of Friday Night Dinner has been surprisingly enjoyable, but yeah, apart from those, you're basically right. There aren't enough good comedies on.
