Sorry to hear there have been issues. When I tried via in game or LiveArea screen, I got an error, but directly via store page it worked fine - at about 10pm (UK) last night.

Didn't even see this one coming - amazing game!

According to the blog it is fixed, there is just a suspect time frame around when the prices were switched that the issue has occurred.

I grew up playing Konami's Nemesis and Salamander on my MSX2. So I was looking forward to this one and it doesn't disappoint at all.

One thing though. Why the borders! What era do I live in? That of NTCS vs PAL clockspeed crap? In which European releases frequently suffered from a lousy port with big black borders diminishing the experience....

It's a horizontal shooter, so give me a horizon that encompasses the whole VITA screen....

Are the horizontal bars actually an NTSC thing? To me it just looks like a design choice to make the view super-widescreen and let you see fractionally more of what's coming your way.

@Popzeus Nah, I know, I was just comparing it to something from the past. But since this is a handheld device and not a 46 inch plasma: less screen equals a smaller depiction of the action. Stop! Tiny bullet time. I would have prefered a more close up playing field that uses the available screen space..

Borders make it a no purchase for me. Design choice or not. I hate games that don't make use of the whole screen.

I guess they are using the top portion for the HUD and the bottom strip for subtitles. But yeah, no reason why they couldn't be overlaid. One thing I did notice was an option to turn on Stereoscopic Rendering.

I'll have to dig out my glasses!

Really great game. We need more like this.
Hoped I could find Star Soldier in the psp store but it isn't. Bet the Japanese one has it.

I'm not saying this game's hardcore, but I "earned" a trophy for dying in the tutorial.

To make matters worse, the trophy icon is of a steaming turd

I didn't even do it on purpose, that's the worst thing. Second time through the tutorial, thought "I'll take the route marked 'for experienced pilots', how much harder could it be?'"

There are some bonkers difficulty spikes in there. The bit in the robot factory where you have to fly through the tunnels cloaked in scrap metal cost me 6 continues (which is why I ended up restarting from the tutorial!)

I can see this becoming fun though once I start to figure out the bullet patterns etc.

It seems very important to remember to slow time down, I kept forgetting the option was there.

Quite impressed with the demo. It's very good looking. I do resent the borders though. Makes it all a bit fiddly and seems a bit of a daft choice frankly.

Probably the most fun I have had with a balls out shooter since RTYPE on the master system though!

It has a certain Metal Slugness about it too. Which is a very good thing.

Yep grabbed this now and had a go and its very pretty, admittedly you do notice the borders but the detail is very impressive.
Thought I was doing ok but kept getting E ratings so I must be doing something wrong..

A lot of bullets though...

I also love the way the demo is diifferent to the game proper. Those levels you think you've already seen before...
