    Don't want to sound like an idiot, but has there been any mention of a standalone release of ME1 on PSN?

    Bought this yesterday. Although it took 1hr15mins just to install the damn thing, I can happily say that it's an excellent port. It runs very smoothly and the graphics are great. I'm only a few hours in but already I prefer it to ME2 in virtually every way. Yay, it actually has RPG elements and a storyline! ME2 was, on the whole, hugely disappointing due to the primary focus being on the back story of the characters as opposed to focusing on an engaging plotline. Yes, there was some bits and pieces on the Elusive Man - but the focus was primarily on recruiting a ship of fools.

    I totally recommend purchasing Mass Effect. It's excellent.

    Playing ME2 before ME1 is why you didnt like it so much.
