My idea is an online internet based game holder.

The idea is that you buy a game on Amazon for example. They would give you an activation code which you would enter on your console. The game would then download on your console.

In addition, you could play your downloaded game anywhere, so you could play that game at your friends' house for example. However, you would have to login with your account.

    Would this work?

    No that's no good.
My idea is some kind of memory stick that you can fill up with games at a game store.

I'm not quite sure how this is different from the current console situation, ie. you can currently buy a game code/credit from a retailer that you then use on the PSN or Xbox Live (which you could play on a friend's console by logging in).

    PSN ID: finn1
    3DS: 3497-0005-6756

You would have downloaded it to your hard drive so just logging on at your friends wouldn't work. That is more like cloud based gaming. The UK also at present doesn't have good enough internet to run that nationally.

If I had an idea I'd think twice about letting any old internet user take advantage of it.

Which idea are you now on, josh1993? Instead of asking on this site every week then maybe you should speak to your peers/tutors at University, where they will most likely give you more constructive advice instead of just cynically shooting it down.

Before we do that I'd like to point out to him that this is a Uni project and not a proposal for financing your idea from some bank.

Whether the thing is actually a good idea or not is largely irrelevant as the point of the project is really to develop your ability to see something through from a proposal to a finished product, this will involve some kind of embarrassing presentation I imagine.

I guarantee the tutor won't give two shits about the actual idea and no-one will be listening to the presentation.

Yeah idea is arbitrary to the method

You should also call it OnLive, that's catchy.

    I have an idea.
I involves attaching string to cups and everyone in a house in a street would have a cup and maybe several cups and they could communicate with each other whenever they wanted and maybe order takeaways and masturbate together on the cup-a-net.
    Would that work?

But whether it's a good idea or not is exactly what the OP asked.
