I always eat burgers upside down. I theorise this to be due to maximizing the amount of sesame seeds interacting with my tongue, as I greatly enjoy the taste. I have vowed to eat one as presented, sesame seed up, but always lose my nerve.

I do normally like experimentation with food though, and am currently on a mission to find something that is good on bread or toast that isn't better on crumpets. Nothing yet. I thought paté might be a clincher, but, no.

This evening, I made a club sandwich (chicken, bacon, tomato, salad, mayo) and because I felt quite hungry and I wasn't sure if one would be enough, I made two just in case.

As a practicing scientist, I felt compelled to turn one of the identical sandwiches upside down and see if it tasted different. It did. The one which had the bacon & tomato at the bottom tasted nicer than the one with the mayo & chicken at the bottom.

Tell me of your taste experiments.

Could it just be a psychosomatic thing on your part? Taste has been shown to be heavily psychic in nature, maybe you're just thinking it tastes better because you're assuming it will?

I use Twiglets as chopsticks when eating a bowl of tuna mayo.

As shown by people thinking the green food dye on st paddys day makes their guiness taste minty.

The Orange Smartie thing applies here, sort of. I'm pretty sure they originally were just identical to other Smarties in ingredients. Then when people started going "THEY TASTE OF ORANGES" they actually put in orange flavouring just to fuck with their minds.

I'm not sure. In an attempt at randomisation, I put them both on a plate on my tray and span it. Then I ate half of one, and then one half of the other. I didn't look at which one I'd had until after giving my verdict.

I still have the other two halves. I could try something else.

You'd be able to tell which is which at the very first bite though, surely? Don't think there's really a way to randomise it.

Only a theory, anyway. Could be all sorts of other reasons. Maybe the fat of the bacon makes it seem tastier as you get to it quicker and your mouth isn't overwhelmed with flavours to neuter it.

Orange smarties do taste orangey. Well, they did, when I was a kid. They were worth double

Bacon is tastier than chicken, that cannot be denied.

I take a cheese and onion crisp and a salt and vinegar crisp and I eat them both in the same go.

I like separating custard creams and bourbons then sandwiching them together into the apex of dull, underwhelming biscuit.

I eat Wagon Wheels upside down so I can poke my tongue into the foamy part. You can't do that if the biscuity part is at the bottom because it's too hard.

I put cashews into pistachio shells because I like the experience of de-shelling pistachios while enjoying the curlier texture of cashews.

I haven't had Wagon Wheels since I was in primary school. Cashews are the best nut.

I like to suck on fingers that have a pink/stink vibe going on.

Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

I like stacking up cadburys fingers into little log cabins then devouring them without using my hands like a thalidomide giant.

I eat Pringles upside down (long sides face up, opposite of how they're stacked) - gets all the artificial flavouring straight to the tongue.

I bite the top off twix's and use it as a straw for a cup of coffee.

Used to be mad for ice cream floats with jelly at the bottom too!

You want a Spira for that.
