Hold on...I'm a bit out of touch with the series these days, but since when has Champ/FM had difficulty levels?

    Difficulty levels?

    Really?
  • Deleted user 20 October 2012 14:26:56
    No.

Pretty much every cross to the back post results in a goal. Full backs aren't tackling, nor are teams pressing properly. Not to mention short passing is bugged, central defenders not defending long balls properly and just stand around doing nothing when a ball is loose in the box. I could go on.

The match engine really is a mess, but yea throw another lame insult out there.
Sounds like someone isn't very good at it.

You get to start with a certain level of experience which governs the sort of players who will gravitate towards you or even entertain the idea of joining you in the magical journey from non league to Barcelona in the final of the Champions league

You can choose if you start out as a fictional star player or a duffer who runs the pub team.

Pub team all the way for me :)

    Ah, right. Gotcha.

    Definitely a pub superstar.

I'm pretty sure that was in 2012?
  • Deleted user 20 October 2012 14:39:08
Been in it for years, it doesn't make much difference.

Looking forward to this although I'm reluctant to give up my current 2012 save. Just about to win the world cup (possibly).

I've barely touched 2012 since getting it cheap and haven't played one properly since around 2009 or so.

Banking on Classic mode getting me back into it. The main game is just far too bloated to hold my interest these days.

Ah right. 2012 was my first one back since 2006. But yeah, I didn't think it made too much of a difference after the first month.

I can't see a single reason to give up my 2012 save yet. Maybe once this drops down in price next Summer (and all the bugs are ironed out of course) I'll be tempted.

I was hovering over the delete button for 2012 in Steam earlier, couldn't quite bring myself to do it, but it's gonna happen.

Better UI, match Graphics, and allegedly opposition manager AI is improved as far as their transfer dealings are concerned, buying/selling players according formation style they play (according to the SI vids anyway).

    Errm, don't jump on him cos he thinks he has match engine bugs, it's full of them. Below is a direct quote from a member of SI from thei forum relating to the issue above;

We're very much aware of an issue related to too many goals, far post crosses and defending balls into the box. As we've always said this is very much a 'work-in progress' and we'll be taking steps to address these issues prior to release.

As you're probably aware the match engine is a very difficult area of the game to get exactly right in terms of overall balance, but we do very much appreciate all the feedback we've had so far. As always if you have specific examples then please do raise them on the match engine bugs forum for us. That can be found here - http://community.sigames.com/forumdi...and-Team-Talks

    Many thanks.

It depends on the type of player you are, I hate the thoughts of using any kind of 'exploits' to win any games so try and build my tactics around not doing the above, but whenever I score a goal from a cross I always 'feel bad' and that bug isn't the only issue either.

That's why I'm sticking with 12 for the moment.

Unless your centre back gets 35 goals a season you're doing it wrong :)

I've gone for classic mode, seems more up my street. Thought it might be fun trying to get Rangers back to the SPL just to break the ice.

Not sure how it would be fun being Rangers, steamrolling everyone for multiple seasons until you...hang on, it was like that anyway!

    I'm keeping quiet...

I'll do what I've always done with this and keep playing 12 until around Christmas. The new one is usually working by then.

I've got about 635 hours on Steam but a fair chunk of that will be background running time.

What's the general opinion on Classic mode? I still play CM 01/02 sometimes, will this finally sell a new FM to me?
