I have to admit that my interest in this has died off when I heard that the live feed was on a 20 second delay in case anything goes wrong.

And I only watch formula 1 for the crashes, too.

Think I'll just switch everything off.

I would have thought wind was the least of his worries to be honest. Maybe he's just decided he doesn't want to die?

    That's rather disturbing.

Might not take place until next year now. They did say they'd have another go tomorrow though.

I hope they haven't etched his name into the Darwin Award, if he does chicken out now.

If it was me, I'd struggle to jump off. I'd hide in the corner and just sneak off after it crashed.

They are going to try Thursday apparently but yeah, only a few weeks of weather left this year for this to be viable.

Cool launch. Really fast when the balloon was reaching it's peak.

This is pretty interesting so far but all I keep thinking is just "JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP DAMNIT!"

    Although I am quite impatient.
  • Deleted user 14 October 2012 17:27:54
Aye, I'm in the same boat Slint. The ascent is slowing down now, think I'll keep it on in the background and check back for jump time. Looks a tad chilly that high up :)

So when will he actually jump? If all goes to plan of course.

Those checklists don't really make for the most interesting or most riviting watching.

The commentator is godawfully bad though.

I think I read somewhere it's a two and half float to your doom, like the end of Angelheart in reverse basically.

Exactly, so get someone who can fill one or two hours with some pseudo interesting waffle, can string sentences together smoothly and doesn't have a really annoying voice.

Any estimate on when the jump will be so I can ignore it until he actually does.

Get some test cricket commentators on there, they can waffle on about what they had for breakfast all the way until afternoon tea without even a whiff of action.

Not far now - 104,000 feet.

I don't care how much of a daredevil he is, I bet he wants to shit his pants when he opens that door.

He's now past the record height, right?

So unless he gets trapped in the capsule... he will still break the record for highest jump ever, even if he dies.

Yup, he passed it a minute or so a go.

Does it actually count if he dies?

Also, according to the BBC article the other day, people have jumped from higher than kittinger but all died.

Won't he be jumping around now if there is a 20 minute time delay on the video? In fact, won't he right at this moment be falling?
