I was actually being kind of serious. if you dont like it, go to russia.

The problem is, this site does have a liberal bias, such is their choice. The daily mail has a mentally deficient bias, as is their choice.

They dont owe you anything and as such, they can do what they like. I appreciate it may not be to your tastes and sensibilities but, sadly, you have two choices: Like it or lump it.

Fwiw, I do agree that, in some areas the world is getting too sanitised and reactionary but in this instance, its a fair enough stance to take. They want to make the expo family friendly. They do not think booth babes are family friendly and have banned them. Fair enough.

Eurogamer is the BBC of Games Journalism. I'm surprised they haven't interviewed Ed Milliband about his favourite Spectrum game ;)

I do think this view is missing the point a bit. Nobody is contesting your right to find women attractive, or demanding that you apologise for doing so.

There is probably a much broader argument to be had about what is 'liberal' in this context, and whether reinforcing gender stereotypes is acceptable because the majority of the audience are, in your opinion, red-blooded males of a certain sexual persuasion but as someone else said, there's already a thread for the booth babes argument.

If you genuinely don't feel that the tone or content of the news, articles or editorial or opinion-piece views expressed by the staff and writers of EG fits in with what you want to experience, then nickthegun is right - either set what you want up for yourself, or perhaps visit another site other than Eurogamer where you are more comfortable with the prevailing viewpoints.

I'm not telling you to go away, and I certainly wouldn't take away your freedom to debate your opinion on these subjects, but if it really feels to you like you're fighting a monolithic uphill battle against common sense and reason, then the internet is hardly short of places that don't insist on browbeating you for finding women attractive. Even though I don't really think that is what is happening here.

And Rab's definitely not an apologist for finding things sexy, he's a right dirty bastard.

@nickthegun I don't think it's as easy as "doing what they like." I think it's all about finding a balance. Eurogamer needs money coming in and alienating a portion of its audience isn't a good idea. The Booth Babes article might get hits but it's also painting Eurogamer in a negative light by acting as some kind of puritanical defender of women and all that is good and right. As long as your opinion matches theirs.

At the moment, I think the balance is wrong. Not left, not right, just really confused. The reviews almost seem an annoyance these days to the staff.

I think it's painting EG in a very good light.

The thing is, its an acceptably small portion and if you care that much about booth babes, its probably a portion they dont want anyway (not that they would ever admit that).

Pax doesn't allow booth babes either, does that put Penny-Arcade in a bad light as well?

Why are we back onto booth babes? It's a trivial matter. I had more of an issue with it being a badly written socialist apologist piece. It read like a bad blog entry written by someone who got caught with their hand in the cookie jar (“oh it wasn’t me… I don’t like girls in no clothes… you dirty bastards… I’m a good boy”); it was not gaming journalism. And - the wider point – EG keep putting crap like that up there.

Its an opinion piece from a guy EG respects enough to let write whatever he likes. Thats clearly part of the editorial policy EG has to 'keep putting crap like that up there'.

I dont really know what the problem is.

It (Rab Florence's piece ooo-er missus!) is gaming journalism in that it directly relates to gaming companies, a gaming event, gamers' opinions and the Eurogamer website and it's owner.

No-one is being forced to read any of the non-review/non-preview pieces either. There's actually a button you can press which filters out any opinion/editorial/interview-type pieces too, if you're so inclined.

I've now invariably spent too long writing this reply and someone else will, no doubt, have said the same thing much more eloquently.

What the hell are you talking about, OP? EG had not one but two articles on Shag-a-Gamer, complete w/ short-skirted babe photo. You were probably in your glory reading that, so stop complaining.

Well, that is your opinion, and it is fair enough, but I don't think... in fact I hope that EG aren't going to stop publishing some of the more diverse stuff that you don't like.

Given that that is the case, wouldn't it be easier for you to stop reading that stuff, than expect it to change?

It's been discussed at length before that the meaning of mong has changed. I like to think Borderlands 2 is continuing this shift. ;)

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

I'm beginning to think some people believe that the Lost Humanity column is an EG editorial rather than the opinion piece of a non-EG staffer.

I still think they should certainly post an alternative opinion though when subjects are as diversive as this, just to be fair and balanced

There really should be some way of searching the internet to find that out. Something you can type words in to and then get given a list of relevant web pages. It's seems like quite a design oversight.
