Have not read all the posts but the first one is excellent, completely pointless having semi naked women hanging around at a game event.

@ZizouFC I remember the first time I read that I thought fair enough but I don't think the problem lies with women selling the game through being attractive it is the people sitting in marketing meetings saying less clothes more sales and pretty much pigeon holing us gamers into perverts who will purchase something because a pair of boobs tells us too.

As long as its game related I don't see an issue but the virgin gaming girls were just a joke

Booth Babes would be less of an issue if there were Booth Blokes too.

    Equality FTW.

There were booth blokes there though, it's just that they weren't walking around in their underwear.

Fun fact - The Virgin Gaming girls weren't told what they would be wearing before turning up. Me and my partner got talking to one on a cigarette break and turns out they were hired for the job, got to London and as they arrived were shown what they would spend the day in, and if they argued they wouldn't be paid.

I'd be happy to see the end of this 'phenomenon'. Just makes me embarrassed to be a fan of whatever pursuit it is that's employing them, be it games or anything else.

I've never bought a single issue of any of those mags like T3 or Stuff, for two reasons. First, I doubt there's anything in there I couldn't find out for free on the internet. And second, putting half-naked women on the front to hold the items that are featured in the magazine just seems pathetic to me.

Any Netflix library in the world for a couple of quid a month? Gimme!

One of the reasons I stopped reading Games TM was that, with a small child in the house, having a magazine with two pages of sex line adverts really wasnt appropriate.

Disappointingly, that's exactly as I has suspected it would have been.

Its as if the promo organisers thought their temps wouldn't agree if they knew in advance.

    Did somebody mention temps?

Crank the temps up in that QR code.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

Booth cakes are only suitable if served by Emily Booth, wearing modest attire of course.

    This space left intentionally blank.

I have to say I personally don't find it offensive but I can understand why some people do. This type of promotional work is valid employment for some women and to remove it completely is a bit of overkill. The Virgin Gaming girls were a little over the top but there were some others who were perfectly fine. Rather than a knee jerk reaction to this just put limitations in place. The Warface girls for example had denim hot pants on but also t shirts and they were interacting with people in their queue.
    TLDR:

Don't ban them, just put a dress code in place to stop those like Virgin gaming

    Good post, good policy.

Discouraging roughly half the population from being interested in your game by fronting it with light porn was never the smartest move in the world by devs.
I'm pretty sure that that half of the population don't attend game expos and don't even buy the kind of games the booth babes are advertising.

It's a strange decision but in a sense if EG want a different vibe with developers talking among consumers and fans it might focus people on the right things as opposed to eye candy.

I still think it is a little weird to dictate what women can wear or not. Even if it is for good intentions.
So, who is going to point out that MD is in that half of the population, ie female...

    Guess I just did.

You're Right ! We should start a Kickstarter campaign to fund a home for out-of-work Booth Babes...

Or we could just find them some less demeaning work, find out what they're actually good at and treat them as human beings...

[sadly, I cant see the second option catching on...]

My wife was a model. You geeks need to get out more. Forget the booth babes and sort out the queues. Let me handle the booth babes next year. I will keep them all occupied and make sure they stay away.
