Over 18 area suggestion for 2013 - Help us help everyone - ID once checked upon wrist band collectio

    I am probably not the only one to be getting annoyed in being asked for id every time entering that area, with that in mind 2013 needs to evolve and yes this may be difficult to get done and might cost more but if it means no more lost time to showing ID it has to be worth it.

    I present to you my idea that will work.

    These wrist bands we wear now they are different colours would it not be possible to have two variations of that colour one for under 18's and one for over 18's the ID can and should be checked upon collecting the wrist band, once confirmed then the appropriate band could be given.

    For example four day silver - plain silver if over 18 and if under 18 then silver with red dots.

    Then when walking to the over 18 area they check the wrist band, it will be quicker to slow down the entry process once than to slow down multiple times.


    If anyone else has ideas on speeding up entry into the over 18 area.

    I would like this to be put in place for the future to make it a more pleasent experience entering, on the first day hardly anyone was checked then on friday most and saturday nearly everyone.
    I'm sure at one point there was a que to get in the over 18 area on Saturday.

    Im 30 and I got ID'd. I gave him a 'wtf' look and the bouncer just waved me through.

    Now with 80% more Cthulhu!

    And your idea would severely slow down people getting into the expo. The queue in the morning is already bad enough without that crap.

    Just have our Id out ready to show its what's I did and I barely broke stride the guys checking id know what they are doing and are v quick at doing it, the slow down is people knowing they will need to show id but still waiting until they are in front of the bouncers abd faffing around looking for it

    I do think something needs to be changed, even with my ID at the ready they some times would spend time reading both sides, some will read one side some both.

    I haven't been to the expo since the first year, when I was under-18 so this didn't affect me and I don't know how much of a problem it is but at festivals there's a seperate over-18s band you can get at a different place to the main queue. Then you can get that if you think you're going to continuously be asked for ID.

    I've seen even people in there 30s + being checked its gone to far this year, I went three days in a row and remember the guards faces yet they dont remember me, yet some how people ive met many many months ago at other events remember me.

    @m0dm0use really you expect the guards to remember one person from a group of 10-15 thousand??? You see 3-5 guards its a completely different situation

    50,000 people at the expo and you expect them to remember everyone? Fucking hell, unrealistic much?

    You could bypass it anyway by going round the back. It wasnt completely enclosed.

    Not quite the responses I was expecting, mostly immature or young members who haven't been outside the house.

    Next year I will just wear the ID on a lanyard, would be nice to find out what a Eurogamer staff member thinks on the whole ID situation.

    At least get staff to be consistant in how they check ID

    Or rather a large group of adults who think its a bit stupid to make such a big deal out of something that takes all of a few seconds , or to expect the guards to remember the faces of all 50,000 people.

    Everyone should have to get a permission slip signed by their mum saying they're allowed to go into the grownups section.

    if you have nothing intresting to say then you might as well just throw your bags on the truck and drive away
