OK - just like the games one - post your top 3 must listen albums, the loose genre they fall into, and also the best recent albums you've heard.

I'll probably do a HipHop specific one, as it was 'my thing' in the 90s, despite being pretty dead these days.

    HipHop alltime:

    Nas - Illmatic
    Pharoahe Monch - Internal Affairs
    Mobb Deep - The Infamous

    last 3 years:

Nas & Damien Marley - Distant relatives

    - other than that - no fucking idea, as I haven't bothered listening to the rehashed shite.

    Anyone else!?

The past 3 years? I think only two have *really* grabbed me to get massively repeated play and to still enjoy them as much, if not even more each time:

    PJ Harvey- Let England Shake
Dexys- One Day I'm going to Soar

Ever? There's far too many to choose from, but today itmight as well be:

    Neil Young - Harvest
    Fugazi- Repeater
Public Enemy- It takes a nation of millions...

Oh shit yeah, I'd should have made a list of pretentious shit that nobody has heard of instead of actually listing albums I really like.

Let's see, according to the data iTunes keeps:

    David Bowie - Diamond Dogs
Bauhaus - In The Flat Field
    Modern Lovers - Roadrunner, Roadrunner

I thought my tastes were a bit 'heavier' but iTunes can't lie.

Why? Are you going to buy them all? Or are you making a list?

So because you don't know other peoples' choices, that makes them pretentious shit that they're only listing because no one has heard, huh?

    Interesting. :D

This isn't the comments thread, it's a discussion forum. If dog bot has misunderstood then why not correct him intelligently and articulately?

It's a fascinating subject. Can something only be in one of these lists if they've appeared at the top of every populist publications list since time began or can hidden gems be named?

Well this didn't take long to degenerate into the classic argument over being people being "pretentious".
