PS4 launch, why you so far away!? I want to play Planetside now! Is anybody here going to be getting a PS4 and might try out Planetside even though they've already got it? My main concern at this point is the size of the community on PS4.
Actually expecting it to do gangbusters on PS4. It's worlds away from every other shooter out there, and the scale will wow console die-hards. It will likely kill Dust514 stone dead.

I think most of the PS4 planetside discussion happened in the main PS4 threads, though I never read them, so can't be sure.

I'd be less concerned with the size of the community and more concerned with the type of community you'll get on console. The playerbase is, by and large, relatively non-arsehole on PC, but I highly doubt that will be the case on console. ;)

Best bet really is give in and get a PC :D

If you have a PC now I see no reason to wait. It's not going to be better on PS4, essentially.

But if done right, it will be great on PS4.

Can't wait for this to arrive on PS4. Tried it on PC over the weekend and whilst the tutorial ran fine as soon as I started playing the framerate plummeted and it was unplayable. :(

Was a shame. The settings were already set pretty low and my PC can run newer games with ease.

I would get a PC for gaming but a friend of mine has been telling me to do that for a year or two now. If I get a PC he wins. I cant do that. Its like if Batman killed the Joker.
Right now thought I have a mac laptop from 2010 and its slowly dying, when it dies I'm planning on getting a Desktop or a decent laptop. Gaming isn't really my main focus when getting a computer.

Question for the PC peeps, how do outfits/clans work within the same faction? Like, is there a common chat channel to help with coordinating different groups? Or is it all done via voice chat(internal/external) and the like?

Wondering how the PS4 version is gonna work outside of having 50+ random guys in party chat heh

    Actually that is a point.

On PC it seems to work like this:

Outfit has own private text chat (a la all MMOs), and text can work on all levels: 'tell', 'say', 'squad', 'platoon', 'region' and 'orders', which are global commands (per continent) that certain players can use (requires cert investment).

Voice wise: Proximity, Squad, Platoon all work in-game. Then there is Command, I think, which is the voice equivalent of 'Orders', except you can't even receive the messages/chat without access.

In reality, what happens is this: random pick-up groups use in-game chat. Works fine. No issue.

When outfits are allied (as is the case 99% of the time, otherwise life would be miserable for the whole faction), they tend to use external voice stuff - TeamSpeak for us, for example - to communicate: not only internally (i.e. outfit's own squads etc) but externally - with a multi-outfit platoon, or several separate platoons made up of a mix of players.

Often platoon leaders will offer the chat details to randoms, as it's in the interest of all that team cohesion is established and maintained.

On PS4 I guess they'll just rely on in-game chat - i.e. voice for local, squads, platoon and command, and perhaps add in an outfit chat + maybe even a private?

Hmm, interesting. As long as there's a way for outfits to coordinate I'll be happy. Will hopefully form a decently sized group of EG'rs to play around with. Being f2p will hopefully help people stick around longer than usual (me included). Thanks for the reply o7

/leader will get a lot more use on console. First six to nine months will be a constant stream of sperglords and then it might start to settle down. :D

A couple of people in my outfit on Woodman have it certed and simply have the channel muted 90% of the time they squad lead. I just refuse to cert it. We have good enough relations with other outfits that we can communicate with them without having to constantly listen to a select few people who don't bloody shut up on it.

Got my first Sundy multikill. AT mines on a bridge.

Pretty telling that I was actually shooting an empty flash, for the measly XP, when lots of kills popped up and it took me a good 5 seconds to work out what happened.

Sticky nades and AT mines are a good combo for Engineers if you can sneak round. Drop the mines and use the sticky to detonate them. Unfortunately I never play Engineer unless I'm driving something :p

As far as I understand, remote play is essentially enabled for every game which doesn't require PS4-only peripherals. Good news anyway!

I don't think anybody would be good at any game while on the pooper so it really doesn't affect me that much.

Come join the fun on Woodman.

I'm in KOTV (Keepers of the Void) - one of the biggest outfits in the entire game - on any server.

    For Vanu!

Given that this thread has a small but well-honed, sort-of-unofficial outfit already and has done since launch, and given that KOTV is, as you say, one of the biggest outfits in the entire game...

Why try to recruit here?

4230 players! That's a lot of people. Not like they really need people, but I'm sure it's a good place for any Woodman dwelling EGer to go.

Keepers of the Void Stat Attack, for those Woodman peeps :)

In the interest of fairness, those on Miller could do worse than DOTBADS. Stats!
