Finally - a proper new MGS game from Hideo Kojima!

Looks amazing, but whether it'll still look quite that good when it finally arrives on PS3/360 remains to be seen.

Im expecting it will look like that for next gen consoles with a visually scaled down version of Fox Engine for PS3 and 360.

So what about metal gear rising? This completely came out of left field for me. I take it's not out til late 2013 at the earliest?

About 4 mins added here, including Snake/BB driving and getting a taxi.

Makes more sense than a master infiltration expert arsing it up on the first spotlight !

Very, very impressive video that looks like its running on a high-end PC, but MGS4 had just as an impressive intro and it turned out to be a major disappointment to me.

Hopefully it gets a Wii U release. Would be the excuse I'm looking for.

It looks incredible, and it's about time we had a proper Metal Gear Solid game on all formats.

    You don't have a PS3/360?

Could imagine Kojima doing some fun stuff with the controller on the WiiU actually. Seeing as how Twin Snakes was on the cube, Snake on smash bros, not outside realm of possibilities.

Will people who haven't played MGS4 or Peace Walker be able to follow this? Going by the fact that two characters from Peace Walker feature in that trailer, I'm not too sure. I mean, it looks amazing, but there isn't much point releasing it on 360 if the people playing it on that console can't follow the story.

I think anyone following the story went out the window half way through MGS2.

I enjoyed MGS a lot but I just couldn't get on with MGS2. Heard Snake Eater is good, may give them another go to catch up but I'm not that into the series. This reveal has peaked my interest, looks amazing but I have always been put off by the wonky camera and controls, though that seems to get better with every release. Not forgetting the long dialogue interruptions, painful.

Watching that makes me want an open Splinter Cell with stealth more than anything else but Ubisoft haven't got a fucking clue nowadays.

The last SC was easily he best in the series for my money. Can't wait for the next one, personally.

Ground Zeroes will be a lead-in to MGS5, apparently. Can't see story being a major issue for X360 players. Just because they own that machine doesn't mean they haven't followed the series.

Well, it means they haven't played MGS4 if that's the only console they own.

With the number of twists, triple crosses, resurrections and retcons I don't think story will matter too much if the gameplay is actually good like MGS2 was.

MGS2 may have had an absurd plot but it had a lot of gameplay compared to 4.

Edit:I haven't played MGS3 but people say it's the best MGS and it requires little background knowledge.

I know that now. What about MGS4? I didn't even mention MGS2 or MGS3, so I don't know why they're being brought up.

If it's Big Boss like it looks like then it'll be set 30 years before MGS4 anyway, so it shouldn't really come up.

They're all great games in there own right anyway.

No, it doesn't. They could have previously owned a PS3 or borrowed one, or played it at a mates.

To be fair, if you're playing MGS games for a cohesive story, you're doing it wrong.

MGS Solid campaign is a little too short to be a Stormtrooper

Game Informer via Kotaku stating that the campaign(not side missions) can be completed in 2 hours

Ah, that explains why it's 30.

29.95 for Ground Zeroes on PS4 or XB1.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Eugh. Really? I mean thats just taking the piss.

Will they release both together eventually or is it just going to be 70 to 90 quid for the whole thing?

Is that 2 hours including cutscenes and long-winded codec conversations or just 2 hours gameplay? If its the latter that's about standard.

    @StarchildHypocrethes

Just reading the GI article now. Just the core story mission they completed it in 2 hours, internal testers can speed run the main mission in 5 mins

" how quickly it takes to complete the main mission and explore the camp is upto the player, but the extra missions give the game a little more replayability" no mention of how long the side missions are or how many

So it's basically a demo for 30, handful of extra missions, exclusive modes for Sony and Microsoft owners and leaderboards.

5 minutes!? So 2 hours is already the "taking your time" figure??!!

This is absolutely insane, how can they think they will get away with it?!

If you are going to release a 2 hour game, why isn't it on Vita ffs.
