From what I've seen Zune is a shite sight better than the bloody Windows Phone app - crock of shit that doesn't even let you sync playlists.

Registered 10 years agoLove the Zune software. Still use it.
Microsoft just went back to version 1.0 for far too many apps in there new direction and do fuck all feature updating. Xbox Music is atrocious.
Just have to wait until they get their finger out. Think they are still beta testing or just incompetent. -

Registered 4 years agoXbox Music with the Windows Phone app works nicely from what i have seen. That is the main reason i want to use it so i can automatically sync stuff.
can Zune do this ? Does it support xbox music playlists and sync to the phone and visa versa. Tried WMP but that doesn't seam to recognise playlists in the cloud only local ones.
edit: Scrub thought on Zune, turns out WP8 doesnt work at all with Zune. So back to square one i need to get the Windows 8 App to work properly to sync playlists in the cloud. Playing with Zune, i think i will use it to make playlists and then download them then use the Win Mob Desktop program to move to the phone. Talk about a long winded arse way to do it.

Registered 3 months agoHow do folks,
I thought this would be the best thread for this small - hopefully not too spammy - ask...
Would you be able to vote for our app 'Didlr' at http://nas.newwp.it *? Ideally we'd be heralded as the Next App Star and be featured in a Windows Phone ad.
Cheers!
* It redirects to a Facebook 'app', which is annoying - but makes it easier to share if you could! -

Registered 8 years agoTalking about long winded. I just had to burn my entire purchased playlist from itunes onto cd rom as an audiodisc, re-rip those discs back onto itunes then re-do all the track details - just to get the songs I have purchased onto my new device. Cheers Apple. -

Registered 7 years ago@dr_swin Not that it helps you now (and it does come at a cost), but if you subscribe to iTunes Match (23 quid I think?) you can delete tracks you have bought that have DRM and re-download them in the DRM-free version from the iTunes cloud.
I did this recently with my iTunes collection. -

Registered 3 years agoI thought they did that 'Plus' thing years ago where you could exchange DRM-infested tracks for DRM-free ones..?
Actually, now that I come to think of it, you had to pay a small per-track or per-album fee. -

Registered 7 years ago@Ror1984 Yeah, I think you are right. With iTunes Match that fee is wavered (but then you are paying an annual fee) -

Registered 3 years ago@dunny Ah fair enough. I was just surprised for a second that people still had music with DRM, then I remembered you had to pay for the privilege!
EDIT @dr_swin - try Amazon MP3?

Registered 4 years agoStupid question time.
How can you add music to a existing playlist ? I can only find the option to add a new list from now playing cant add to one or merge lists.
second question, if i use Zune to create my lists and send to the phone with windows phone desktop app how come it puts the music on my phone but shows the playlist itself is empty ?
last question, when i select some albums they show as empty and cannot delete them but the album itself is still there. Why?
as you can see iam getting rather frustrated, atleast with android if don't like something or doesn't work the way you want you can install Winamp etc.Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

Registered 3 years agoI have a couple more live music samples from my Lumia 920 if anyone's interested. I went to the Jager gig last night and caught some video of Gojira and Ghost. For some reason, Youtube's squashed them down to 480p and won't let me select a higher resolution - the raw files look a shitlot better. But the audio is still impressive, even more so than the last few vids I linked, as this was a proper gig at Brixton Academy.
Anyway, check them out if you're interested.
Ghost
Gojira
EDIT - higher resolutions are now selectable :S Make sure to bump it up.

Registered 8 years agoJust picked up a Lumia 620 and so far seems very nice.
I having a little trouble though with regards to accounts on WP8.
I'm not in the UK but I have my main Xbox/Windows 8 account as a UK one using codes for live and MS points which has worked fine for years. I presume using this one on my phone will work but then I think I'll be locked out of the marketplace without a UK credit card.
If I do manage to get a credit card linked to the account, does that mean the Xbox will get automatic access to the credit card too?
Should I just do a new account for the phone/desktop and save myself some bother? -

Registered 3 years agoMirror's Edge is definitely worth a go. I got it when it was Nokia exclusive, and it's the only mobile game I've ever finished.
I might have to run through it again now
Also, as no one else has mentioned either, Gravity Guy 2 and Temple Run (the first one) are now available. Temple Run is free, while GG2 is £2.29, and very, very different from the first game. It'll take a bit of getting used to if you played the original a lot. -

Registered 7 years agoGot the htc 8s for 150 quid today. Had blackberry and apple before that, Windows phone OS is so much better than anything else, so easy to use. Not a big user of apps so not too bothered on that front... The main ones are there. As a simple, useable smartphone, it's the best I've used and seen. -

The more I used it though, the more I felt constricted by it. Plus the volume limit really irked me along with the lack of equaliser.
I've a galaxy s2 now and I'm much happier. -

Registered 6 years agono, its mostly shit. If you are at all invested or have even used the other two mobile operating systems don't even bother. It's hugely disappointing and just doesn't work as well.
It looks nice though. -

Registered 5 years agoI had an HTC 8S up until last week and I loved it. Smooth as you like with modest specs and a fantastic price. The only downside to it is the minimal amount of user accessible memory, but I didn't really find that to be much of an issue because I don't use/need/want that many apps anyway. -

Registered 6 years agoI'm having an issue with my HTC 8X. A fair nuimber of apps crash as soon as they attempt to open. You click on. The transition/beginning animation kicks in for a splitsecond. And then, boom, back to the home screen. Reinstalling apps sometimes helps. Lately, not so much. Anyone got an idea? -

Registered 3 years ago@Vice.Destroyer Tried a soft-reset? I've only ever experienced what you're describing with the music player, and then only a handful of times. Usually a reboot sorts it, but once or twice I've had to soft-reset.
Also, if you soft-reset it, make sure to go back and set the date and time properly, as it will reset to (I'm guessing) date of manufacture. This will mean your MS account (if you've linked one) won't sync. -

Registered 3 years agoJust got an update notification on my 920. Hopefully it's the one that allows you to clear out the 'Other' storage category...
EDIT - According to WPC, it is
Hope it works properly - I'm much more interested in this update than I was in Portico, as almost 4GB of my storage is being eaten up by these temp files.
EDIT 2 - Hooray! That's reclaimed close to 2GB of space.

Registered 6 years ago@Ror1984 Erm, this is embarrassing. But what is a soft reset? I guess a hard reset is turning it off and on. That, I have done. But what is a soft reset? -
A hard reset in this instance would mean a factory reset, which you obviously don't want to do unless absolutely necessary. A soft reset is akin to a battery pull (which you can't do with these unibody handsets). It'll clear out the ram and everything should be working again. The only things you'll lose are the date/time, which are easily reset.
Hold the lock and volume-down buttons together, until you get a short vibration. It can take about ten seconds. Your phone will restart. Try your apps then. -
