@Peew971 - Yeah, that's a possibility. Definitely worth a try though - you're under no obligation afterall. The guy did say they've had a ton of people coming in buying it both sim free and on contract (in his own words, "people are going mental for this phone" ). He said they had to turn away people that wanted it sim free so that they'd have some left to sell on contract, so it might be worth trying a few stores. There's three in my town, I had to try two.

@CharlieStCloud - I know it's not ideal, but you could always get a different coloured shell sometime down the line and swap it out?

Someone on WPCentral is saying they bought one sim free and it's locked to EE, Orange and T-Mobile.
This is all very confusing :/

@Peew971 If that person has tested it than I'd take their word for it - I can't test it, so can only go by what the P4U chap said, and he could well be wrong. It might still be worth going and asking in-store, though.

Alright, there's a thread on Overclockers and people have tried using various sim cards in the sim free 920. It is definitely locked to EE, T-Mobile and Orange even if for some reason the Phones4u system says otherwise.
On a side note, if you're on one of these networks you can buy a sim fee 920 straight from the Phones4u website.

It's a bit stupid of them, limiting even unlocked phones to those networks. I guess it's part of the exclusivity agreement, but it probably won't do Nokia many favours.

I just tried connecting my Lumia to the WP8 app on my Surface to add content. Curiously, music added via the app seems to discard the album art, whereas dragging and dropping it via Explorer keeps it. Odd. Ah well, drag and drop works for me.

Lots of rebooting issues with the new WP8 devices - seems the 8X is most prone at the moment but it may be worth holding off them right now

I've only had my Lumia 920 for about eight hours so far, but I've not had a single issue so far.

    Wow.

I think I am going to order a Lumia 820 from Carphone Warehouse because you not only get a wireless charging plate, but a genuine copy of Windows 8!

... super-duper offer ends on the 15th of November.

    The Register reviews the 920.

    They seem to like it.

Nice, that's already a step up from the WP7 advertisement. Hopefully they have a series of these with various 'celebrities'.

Picked up my 920 today and it's a superbly slick piece of kit. Anyone bitching about the weight is mental, although i can understand if someone thinks it's too big. Its okay for me but you have to be careful when texting with one hand - it can be a tad slippery.

Just got to get used to the idiosyncrasies of Windows Phone now, having never used it before. It's also possibly worth reiterating the extra stuff you get with this over the 8X - it's certainly one of the aspects that swayed me.

Picked up the 8x earlier. Was going to wait until next year and see if the Lumia 920 surfaced on Three, but my old N8 that Mrs Hermit has been using has started to die, so she needed a new phone. I may have a small tinge of regret at missing out on the Lumia, but the 8x is rather nice, so I'll get over it. My only real issue so far is some of my games aren't compatible:

    Crimson Dragon Side Story
    Feed Me Oil
    Shuffle Party
    Tentacles
    Fable Coin Golf
    Full House Poker

Other than that, it's all good. Angry Birds Star Wars is also ace.

That's a bit of a pisser. I thought all the WP7 stuff was compatible with WP8.

Yeah, I came up against that yesterday when trying to re-install my apps - they don't even show up in the marketplace if they're incompatible, which is a bit confusing at first. It's a bit of a pain, but hopefully they'll all be enabled for WP8 soon. I wonder what the issue is.

I think I might wait for the Ativ S now (can remove battery, 4.8 screen, expandable memory), or get the lumia 920.

It's the apparent size that I'm worried about. It looks huge in ads, and I've got pretty big hands (big wang, you see). How much bigger is it compared to the 900, which I own?

Low light shots on the 920. Very impressive: http://pureviewclub.com/2012/7483

@Ror1984 Thanks, I just saw that. It's basically like paying 60 for an unlock code but I might still go for it.
I'll just wait a couple of weeks and see if it pops up somewhere else slightly cheaper.
And white is actually the one I want :)
