    Might want to watch that.

How else were they suppose to film two people on bikes. Was the van on the swing thing too.

That is a very embarrassing article for the Verge.

Update: We spoke with a Nokia spokesperson who agrees that the PureView ad is misleading. They stressed that it was "never the company's intention to deceive anyone," but only to demonstrate the benefits of optical image stabilization. Nokia says it's now looking into updating the original video with a footnote so that it's clear that the images are simulated, and the original Nokia Conversations blog post that announced the video has been updated with the following text: "the OIS video, above, was not shot using the Lumia 920."
Very, very silly. Total amateur hour.

To be fair, I didn't think it was filmed with the 920.

Everyone knows Jack Thompson - but how did he become the game-blaming activist he is today? Read Part One of my new mini-series!

As in, I didn't think it was meant to be showing what the 920 can do.

Do people really think ads are filmed with mobile devices?

Indeed, however they (Nokia) openly admitted it, apologised and corrected the video in question.

On the other hand, remember Apple and their “You’re holding it wrong” ...

... was there ever an apology (for that)?

When they're demonstrating what the mobile device is supposed to be capable of does, yes.

No doubt now they're going to find nikon dslrs and complex lighting in reflections of the example photos.

Silly question: what does the lock screen look like? Can I see calendar posts on it? It's not the live tiles straight up is it?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

It's a picture of whatever you want with the date/time/calendar info and whatever music you have playing on it.

I've got some if lost please return to info on it.

Supposedly they will have some 3rd party app notifications on their too but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

I realized I should have googled it...
Looks like it perfectly fits the bill for what I would like on a phone. Only downside is that my bank has a really neat app for iOS and Android but not WP.

When is the new Nokias out?

They missed a trick not announcing the release date before iPhone 5 launches. Folk are more likely to wait if they can say "only 4 weeks" or whatever.

So, it was fake. Oh well, silly mistake. At least it seems to work in real life from other pics and videos.

Rests on MS for the release date, one thing Nokia can't really do anything about with that OS. I suppose they could have waited but damned if you don't etc.

I'm massively suprised anyone thought they genuinely filmed an ad for television WITH A PHONE?!

Who would actually do that? Perhaps I'm just a cynical fart.

Yeah, all ads are like that but my thinking was they obviously had a real camera to film both of them and put in some 920 film in between.

Anyway, if that is what people are being picky about then Nokia have done well.

Early November is surely the earliest you're going to be able to get hold of one. MS don't release WP8 until October 24th, do they?

There's no official date for WP8, only for Windows 8 but it's assumed it will be around the same time.

They're all launching in Q4 that's all we know. But it's a safe assumption to think they will all launch between the last week of October and the first two weeks of November.

Do you guys think I'll miss out on much if I went for the 820 rather than the 920? I like that it's smaller.

It's not that smaller (4.3" vs 4.5") that you'd really notice a difference, unlike the difference between the 800 and 900. I personally don't see any reason to get the 820 unless you're one of these people who constantly swap microSD cards.
