82 years old, but losing someone like that is oddly hard. A real hero.

    sad news.

(that was quick db, not even on news websites yet - had to type it into google) - just shows you how quickly tech as progressed.

Kind of fitting its in time with the rover landing. a real hero indeed!

Genuinely sad. A great man, a pioneer, a proper hero.

    Rest in peace, Neil. :(

Even today most people would think twice before getting strapped to a giant rocket and fired at the Moon, but that guy did it in the 60's when high tech simply meant not using catapults for the job.

    A genuine legend that man.

RIP Neil, a man whose name will be remembered forever as one of humanity's true pioneers.

And he had the sense not to appear in a Transformers movie! :-)

Just read this - very sad.

In the words of Black Grape:

    "Neil Armstrong, astronaut
He had balls bigger than King Kong"

Just seen breaking headlines. Having just listened to a recent and extremely rare interview only this week, this comes as something of a shock.

Such a dignified and humble guy who did something no one will ever do again. Sad day indeed.

Copied from the 'news' thread ......

The final frontier. He got to do something amazing that none of us will ever get to experience.

    A true adventurer.

A true gent, very humble, despite he's incredible achievements. There is a good BBC4 documentary about him that will hopefully be aired again this week.

If there isn't already an Armstrong Crater on the moon, there should be.

Its crazy when you think they sent them to the moon with technology less powerful than my laptop! He did what probably every little kid dreamed of doing.
nearest I'll ever get is when they launch my ashes off in a firework!
    May he rest in peace

They have to call the shuttle that takes the first bunch of people to Mars 'The Armstrong'. I demand it. And also build a statue of him out of unobtanium while they are there.
