    I just read this...

"I took it a notch further by using an electrical stimulus on my leg, my toe and even my testicles."

But boosting comes at a price.

"You are getting a blood pressure spike that could quite easily blow a vessel behind your eye or cause a stroke in your brain," says Zdanivsky.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19325756

...don't let anyone say these athletes aren't just as competitive as abled bodied athletes. Total psychos!

Whoever gets the glory and the medals, the main thing is that really they're all not winners.

A guy with one arm could do the 100 meters faster than a midget.

I thought women were mentally strong.

Not on the basis of this thread, or any post revan eleven's made that I've seen.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Not if the midget is thrown.

I've turned off all the avatars and crap, so don't expect me to be impressed by yours.

To go a 100 meters, he would have to be shot out of a cannon.

A sport we could all get behind.

I always use EG on the move and so I am typing fast and posting before checking the grammar. You always have such anger there, must be some deeper issues going on with you.

So revan8, what events are you in?

Or are you just a bit annoyed that you weren't picked?

I think I've replied to you twice, in total.

Say something intelligent and you might find a more favourable response.

If there is a grammar one then I guess I could take part apparently.

    Who's angry?

And FWIW, yes, I am interested in the paralympics.

Women can't run as fast as Usain Bolt, so how come they're allowed to compete in their own special 'thanks for coming, bless' races? Can't see the point when there's always a man around to run faster, jump further, be better. Is that the kind of point you're trying to make?

Can you see how ignorant and insensitive your thread is?

LB, you really are a massive geek.

There are a few misunderstandings that are worth addressing.

Firstly there are six disability categories so you'll never have, say, a wheelchair user versus a blind athlete. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paralympic_Games#Categories

Secondly that no-one cares. The London Paralympics are set to be the first that sell-out completely; that's 2.5 million tickets.

Thirdly that this is somehow 'less' good than non-disabled sport. That's obviously a matter of opinion of course, however I urge you to watch a documentary such as Murderball (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kaT5dDiISw) to see that these are athletes who are dedicated, passionate, independent and exciting to watch.

There's a rather unpleasant tone that many critics of the Paralympics take which is one of patronising 'it's nice for them' which just goes to underline their own prejudices and views of people with disability. That they are less worthy of attention and that they should be applauded for the effort, when often the stories of overcoming set-backs and barriers behind these performances are awe-inspiring.

If you aren't interested then fair enough, however don't pretend that what these atheletes do is somehow second-class. Don't pretend that people don't care or are feigning interest our of some misguided sympathy. The drama of the Paralympics is often equal and sometimes surpases that of the Olympics as men and woman overcome disability, and prejudice, to achieve at the very top of their game.

    I can't wait.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

No, I said each event isn't equal. Like if men and women raced in the 100 , it wouldn't be close. Everyone getting on their high horse and trying to manipulate what I wrote.

We've got tickets for the Paralympics. I can't wait! But then again we only got tickets for it because we got shafted in the Olympic ticket lottery.

@revan8 but there are categories for different disabilities so you really don't know what you are talking about.

I can't wait for the Paralympics. There's some seriously sad stories I've heard from Athletes that will appear in the games that have used this to focus and gain confidence again. I'll back them by watching and supporting.

I can safely say my intellect is higher than yours. Also I help out people with various disabilities every day and make theirs and others lives better. What the fuck do you lot do with your day?
