Couldnt find a dedicated thread for xbox other than whats talked about in xbla thread. Thought be good to discuss in here etc. A lot of questions being asked sure some can answer here.

Myself. Looking forward to reliving my CS days from my old dell ten years ago. Not sure how the xbox will compare especially on controllers.

Another concearn is that this will get overlooked by the big hitters and we will have some empty servers in a month or so.

Okay so it is about to be released and no word on prices. Will get it 1200 or less. Great communication about this game by valve. Next to no coverage and no prices no reviews, just might appear at some point today ....maybe.

Ive never played counter strike before, checked out the previews and it looks outdated, not doing anything other major games on the market don't do already. Am I missing something? Should I be excited?

Well it's 15USD on PSN and 11Euro on steam so it had better be no more than 1200msp.

    The bomb has been planted.

It's the game that a lot of other FPS games copied. Having such a loyal fanbase for 10 + years gives you an idea of how good it is...

Also, it's a valve game. They don't usually release shit games.

@Revan- I agree. Can't believe how bad they have been at announcing this game. If it turned out it wasn't actually coming out on the Xbox and the whole game was just a rumour I wouldn't be surprised. I know it's mainly a PC game but I'm sure that there will be console gamers who will want to play it

Got the trial version queued up now, I think I will be buying it. Combines my friends list from xbox who I play with/against regulary, and I don't suffer from having a crap PC, bonus!

Sweet, trial on the download. Looking forward to trying this.

Oh man, I don't think this is for me. Just tried an hour on the trial.

Didn't like it at all. Just felt like there were too many controls. And all mapped to unusual controller locations. Spent 25 minutes trying to get the buttons in places that made sense. And then had no buttons left for grenades.

And there's no rocket launchers or tanks.

Oh well. At least I tried it it...!

@RelaxedMikki So because you can't figure out what button best goes where you don't like it? I take your second comment as trolling but the first is just idiotic, I'd waste my breath with the obvious settings but ive better things to do, ie, nerd rage on a forum.

There's hardly any buttons?! It's probably one of the most simplistic control set ups.

Had a quick go. Does seem a bit kitchen sink when you play it, they just throw it all out there. Think I need a bigger TV and be a lot closer to get any real enjoyment, it's PC to the core minus the buy menu. It's nice to play CS again and without the XP, upgrade nonsense we get now but the old dog is just that. I feel Valves current tech ages very poorly, the movement is just past it's sell by date. No more ice skating. Their other games lack that physical feel in the game world too, CS just seems to magnify that even more for me.

Anyway, it's got good guns, they feel right, maps are good as always but not for me on consoles.

How does it work on a controller?

nostalgia can be a dangerous thing. I am looking forward to trying it and have intentions of getting it. Just wonder if the 2012 part of me would rather play battlefield now.
  • Deleted user 22 August 2012 14:09:11
Nearly finished trial, not for me.
Mechanics now outdated, shooting lose and I personally have not enough patience to wait for a round to end if I die early.
    Will fiddle with controls.

I can't decide on this. Had about 20 at lunch time before heading back to work.

It certainly feels like a PC game on an xbox. I can't quite tell if that's a good thing or not. Feels VERY old school. No "iron sights", no run button, once you're dead you are dead. All the things I thought I liked about CS when I played it for 100's of hours from 2000-2004 ish.

I did like that the left shoulder button as crouch (and therefor steady aim) but I think the biggest issue I have is that the best thing about CS was owning someone with a pistol. A pistol with a controller vs. someone with a shotgun/AK is going to be VERY difficult.

I like the 'through the gun' play, feels tight and responsive. Will need to tweak sensitivity to get it feeling fluid and accurate.

It's a decent "pure" shooter. It should do well.

Also, nice to see BOT's join in to even the sides up, quite like that.
  • Deleted user 22 August 2012 14:32:10
Trial over, won 22 out of 24 rounds but wasn't much fun. Couple of good games at the end, like it when you last person.

@revan8 Is the trial 45 mins and thats it, or does it reset if you log out?
  • Deleted user 22 August 2012 14:41:03

If it reset on a log out you'd have the full game...
  • Deleted user 22 August 2012 14:44:38
@binky I'm assuming that's it because in the 45 min you have access to full game. Trial should be at least two hours. I was just getting warmed up at 45 mins.

Yes, that's the point. Now that you're warmed up you might be inclined to buy to see how good you can get, whereas at 2 hours you might have figured out that you're shit and not purchase.

I bought it for PC so i was just giving the XBL trial a shot because i might get it to play with friends.

Every match i joined was a lag fest despite my ping being great for COD and other online stuff including CS:GO on PC. Plus it feels weird as fuck playing CS with a pad. Might give it another shot and decide if i'll get it then.
