My 60 is starting to stall, it's my third since lauch after two YLOD, and they both died after stalling repeatedly. If this is out soon then it may be just in time. Any ideas yet on date?

^ My guess is that all the details will be revealed at Tokyo Game Show.

Good point, so no news for a few weeks yet but a good chance for an end of year release.

Sony would be silly not to at least try and get it in western shops before Christmas. I hate how deep my slim is (not my tadger), the thing just wont sit nicely on a shelf!

The PS3 Super Slim has been confirmed; what are your thoughts and will you be getting one?

    I know I am!

'I cannot believe it isn't cheaper' were my first thoughts ...

... but HMV seems to have made the first move by pricing the 12GB (flash memory) model at £184, which I kind of hope ensures Amazon to undercut the price by at least £10, or more!

Yeah seems very expensive for a 6(?) year old games console which may only be relevant for another year or so

£250 seems too much for the 500 - an 65 for the memory is high - was hoping for around £220 to get one.

    Tacky looking. Cheap.

Not sure what they chose to go with that door mechanism for... and that grill. Blech.

All of my old-school top-loading consoles still work flawlessly. My launch ps3 slim refuses to play games or blu rays and gobbles up my discs, which is something that won't happen anytime soon with a top-loading system.

Strangely enough, the average price of a new PS3 has risen in the US. We get a 250gb in place of the 12gb, though.

    Odd pricing, indeed.

Top-loading's fine, but I've no idea why they didn't just stick a flip-top lid on there like the PS2 slimline had.

@Blerk I agree, that would've been a whole lot better.

Flip-top requires more space. I like the slidey too.

Are the prices high to force people to buy the old stock first perhaps.

I think along with this looking horrible, non standard hard drive and the prices, you would be more likely to buy the first slim PS3.

Was really hoping for the PS3/360 to be priced half as much as they are, by now.

It hasn't been like last gen. They probably like their profit margins and market share. It has been a dead heat for a few years really. No reason to rock the boat.

Also makes the price of next gen consoles more appealing. 8 year old console for 200 quid or a next gen one for £300-400. Doesn't sound so bad.

Christ, that looks fucking awful. Amazing that the company that produced the beautiful PS2 slim can roll out these turds.

That closing click songs rather satisfying. Like an old cd case.

Is that before or after the plastic tab shears off and goes flying across the room?

Sony really need some lessons in how to design a case that not only looks nice, but actually feels solid (they could learn a lot from Nintendo on that score).

What d'ya mean none standard hard drive - I was thinking of buying a 12Gb model and sticking a TB drive in it!?

    Oh, wait found it here

"owners of the 12GB model will be able to connect a 2.5 inch SATA internal hard drive with use of an official Mounting Bracket, or opt for purchase of an official PlayStation 250GB internal HDD".

And the power consumption is rated at 190w, I'm sure when I tested my slim it came in way under that. Absolutely no way gonna upgrade (need large disk space for playtv and ps+ games), shame, as I like shallower depth and sliding lid! =(

It'd be worth the price for the massive kinder egg. Yum!
