It's a nice thing about the Vuelta. You'd never see a GC contender try a ballsy attack like that with 42k to go in the tour. They'd all be eyeing each other, having their lieutenants keep the pace up and then maybe on the last climb with a handful of kilometers to go, they might attack.

Great to see Bertie back and carrying good form really.
yeah i was at work sal. I flicked over this morning when the highlights were about halfway through, and bertie was 2mins odd on rodriguez. Couldn't believe it! Had to go doctors , so watched it when i got back. Bertie is class. really is.
The attacks really did blow apart the whole field. The peleton seemed a shambles. i know it was doubtful that froome could overhauled 3rd, but a fast pace peleton could have easily overhauled Roridguez and been shoved out the back door in seconds.
