...making this a genuinely portable games console experience (with a battery life in the nanoseconds).

    Intriguing.

Long term this would be good. Kindle glasses, touch a button and they become normal glasses.

Notch likes it! I'd love to play minecraft with this.

I was out getting lunch when the email arrived stating the kickstarter was over, successful, and that I could look forward to my dev kit arriving in December.

Completely expected, absolutely nothing new to report here, but I had a grin like a Cheshire cat. Shit just got real(er), yo.

Interesting topic, this Virtual Reality, which opens some questions:

What would happen with video games lateral and vertical development of mechanical 2D, Virtual Reality should become the gameplay more demand by the public and potential users, or only, replacing the flat screens and dynamic holograms real 3D, to power within this emulated computer generated artificial reality. Survive as a niche, playing outside, but few people play them, or as complete mini-games within this artificial reality, simulated?

Do you then see virtual reality gaming to the Matrix, is seen as an alternative to conventional consoles, and future coexist with 2D gameplay mechanics (retro design and concept).?

If even at this point, we have also side-scrollers games with 2D gameplay lateral or vertical, and people playing them as well as the concept or style arcade games that today mark as Hardcorp Uprising (Contra), R- Type Dimensions, Raiden IV, Ultimate Ghost'n Goblins, Sonic 4 or any other genre of arcade: platforms, beat em up, ..., is now distributed via digital download platforms such as minor product or second-line when compared with 3D gameplay games or 3D Full graphics. And if you do not see then as a thing of the distant past, something very retro, like the arcade game concept, preferring forms of gambling and more complex game mechanics (3D gameplay).?

I had read that it was the Virtual Reality as self-hypnosis, the more the experimentabas, longer wanted to be in this self-hypnosis, doing fantastic things you could not make out of it, and fly like superhero comics or stories or fairy tales. With what would create psychic or psychological addiction, like sex or sweets, candy and soda, or video games, television, or internet, but not physical like drugs.

In a website, illibethejudgeofthat have publlicado a report titled: 2D VS. 3D - A Gaming Evolution, spoke at the end of the story, that "" finally, the game will cease to exist and instead will 3D simulations indistinguishable from reality, virtual reality exists for people who wish to participate in the only refuge for nostalgic gamers will their computers and software emulation which will enable them to relive the glory days of 2D arcade games. While the rest of humanity are slaves of the womb, or at least the requirements of the system. " Implying that there will be new games with 2D mechanical lateral and vertical then.

    http://illbethejudgeofthat.wordpress.com/2009/08/05/2d-vs-3d-a-gaming-evolution/

That future does not seem very far today, Rift Oculus glasses, shows that the future is already here, but not a full virtual reality, and to use the remote to play and movement of the head to move the camera to the I think sides come up here and do not overstep that fine line of playing without any sort of control, since they themselves know that that day will kill simple video games and interactive movies.

Moreover, to what the article says illbethejudgeofthat on that video-games video games will cease to exist and will be in place Their 3D simulations indistinguishable from reality. Video games that do not adhere to a story, but can take different paths chosen by us, where in future they aspire to much more, you be the master of gaming history, deciding on key aspects of it and not only isolated in detail. Video games, however open and are nonlinear, are products with its beginning, middle and end. In its argument, its design clearly directed and designed by the creator or creators. Without this guide or rail more or less pronounced, a game does not work. However much you online, it can not be altered. It's like a movie: Can you imagine a film that could be interpreted by actors online online that could intervene in that time? Unfeasible. The dream of the game completely open, free, not just a pipe dream but would stop working. Would play an alternative life that would be quite absurd and frankly disrespectful to the truth. I prefer the concept of game as it has always been, and I think there are many who want to transform current flows both the game they're going to turn into something else. But video games are not.

Be charged the entire essence of what a video game. I am with what is right, to innovate without losing the essence, because more than a video game would be an interactive movie, and that's not the same.

At another site, this time in Pixfans, spoke of something parecidocomentandonos that "the evolution of the graphical environment experienced in the past 15 years is equivalent to changing the interface. Is it therefore necessary to return to the origins and wait for the right interface? We all know that if this happened it would be the slaughter industry. The games sell more today by visual appearance so it really makes them different from any other artistic medium that is the interaction with the work. Responsible companies today of electronic entertainment platforms, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have chosen an alternative way: until technology can offer the ultimate interface housed in catalogs, in addition to the 3-D video games today, a good bunch of games in 2-D and many downloadable low cost produced by independent studios being genuinely successful on different platforms.

Titles like Braid, N +, Splosion Man, Söldner-X, Castle Crashers, Mega Man 9, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Ultimate Ghosts' n Goblins, Patapon, Loco Roco and many others are leading a new generation of videogames outstanding supported on an interface very simple, that are becoming heirs of another dimension, in other works mirrors one day we did live authentic experiences playable in a time when everything was simpler than now. "

    http://www.pixfans.com/herederos-de-otra-dimension/

As shown in the cinema, with films like Total Recall Tron, Matrix or Avatar, might be within a 3D simulation, running an adventure, as in these films, and stand somewhere, like a living room or a commercial to play 2D platform games, took shipping, beat em ups, run & guns or fight Vs, while we wait for a virtual playmate, who are left with a play or other players who have entered the reality show. Or in the middle of the action escaped ... and keep a watchful eye on those who persecute us getting into a recreational and spent the time playing a 2D arcade game. . We could also get out of the game for a while, without leaving the reality show and distract 2D playing a video game to hang. Or while waiting for the bus to take us out of the game in that reality show, on the outskirts of a big city.

Today there are already games, that would be as close as this. According to Wikipedia, a short mini-game is a video game that is inside another. A minigame is always smaller or simplistic to the main game. Sometimes they are offered separately for free to promote the principal. But in the future, if virtual reality will be the most and what more will give use the 2D gameplay could occur within an artificial or simulated reality, as a specific niche, complete with mini-games.

Finally, once told me, then maybe those who are used to playing with virtual reality spend very much of a control handle with your hands. And playing a game represented in a 2D or creating a false 2D dynamic holograms, similar to how we do today with polygonal graphics, will be a thing of grandparents, like playing today with tin trucks.

Another person told me in yahoo answer, that technology is advancing so fast that we can not know what will happen, but virtual reality, when perfected, will be the best of the mejor.Seguro continue to benefit from time jusgos in when we are used to, but almost nobody will play.

Finally, forum meristation magazine, a user told me that the 3D gameplay does not offer the same as a 2D mechanical lateral or vertical development, but something else

    http://zonaforo.meristation.com/foros/viewtopic.php?t=1478627

The 3D gameplay feels good to genres like:

1 °. Simulators as: Flight Simulator, After Burner Climax (The latter is actually a shoot em up gameplay 3D, closer to the combat flight simulators that the lateral or vertical scrolling, side scrolling).
2 °. FPS or First-Person Shooters (Duke Nukem 3D, Call of Duty, Halo, Half Life, Quake, etc ...)
3 °. Driving (Gran Turismo, Forza, PGR, Ridge Racer, Sega Rally, etc ...)
4 °. Action Adventure and exploration (Tomb Raider, Super Mario Galaxy, Splinter Cell, Soul Reaver, etc ...)

So when in the future, have the ability to recreate a virtual reality in which we are totally immersed in it as the film proposes Enter the Matrix, where the playing field or simulated experience is that reality or virtual, is it may even come to this point, have also side-scrollers games with 2D gameplay lateral or vertical, and people playing them as well as the concept or style arcade games that today mark as Hardcorp Uprising (Contra), R- Type Dimensions, Raiden IV, Ultimate Ghost'n Goblins, Sonic 4 or any other genre of arcade: platforms, beat em up, ..., is now distributed via digital download platforms such as minor product or second-line when compared with 3D gameplay games or 3D Full graphics?. Do not you see then as a thing of the distant past, something very retro, like the arcade game concept, preferring forms of gambling and more complex game mechanics (3D gameplay).?

You told me that believes that coexist, but probably will as niches. Or you can do like Shenmue, DOTT or Beyond Good and Evil, which has classic games in virtual reality. (A game within a game, may then, it will not display screens or projectors appliances dynamic real 3D hologram film, television and video games in our living room, just a virtual reality projector and the film science fiction Enter the Matrix, a computer connected to a signal receiver or television program or film, where we founded or become a part of them, as it was also in the movie Avatar from James Cameron.

In this line, recently, Sega, has shown the first images of Taiko Drum Master in the game Sega, Yakuza 5. The partnership between Sega and Namco-Bandai to bring Taiko Drum Master machine to Yakuza 5, as a tribute to the 10-year-paced game.

The recreational, will be at the Club Sega, where they meet the Yakuza in their spare time, and has other arcades oriiginales that parody other games. The machine Taiko Drum Master, you can play three songs and will also make an appearance one of the stuffed animals, to be achieved with the help of crane machine UFO Catcher.

But, and yours, how do you see this?.

Likewise, although it's only a matter of time until you're added to the Great Firewall's blacklist. ;-)

As for matchbox's post: I think I sort of get it, but I need to have a little lie down and maybe a cup of tea and a biscuit before I'm ready to talk about it. Maybe a little cry also.
