Your server must have taken quite a pounding, I'm surprised it could handle the load.

At this time in the morning I'm 50/50 on whether this is opportunistic innuendo or genuine technical curiosity. If it's the former my response is:

    "Wahaymissus!!"

    ..if it's the latter:

50,000 visits and 70,000 pageviews in 2 days mainly due to this article. As good as the interview is, it is a little depressing how predictable blokes on the Internet can be. ;)

Think I'm ready to spill a cool £300-£400 on an HD Oculus Rift now. I'd rather pay for one than a next gen console for sure, or a new graphics card...

Where can I try one of these things? It sounds awesome, I'd love a go at a few of the demo's but I'm not going to buy a PC and one of the kits just to give it a go. Surely it can't just be at a show. Some enterprising chap should set one up at home, hell I'd pay £10 for 30 minutes on this. Anyone in London wanna set one up in a pub and charge us a tenner per go? Sure you'd get twenty takers.....

The last time I went round pubs offering 30 minutes for £10 it didn't end well.

So, I'll be playing Journo/hack at GamesCom 2013 this year for RoadToVR.com.

Lined up so far: Meeting the CCP Team (Eve Online) for a playtest of EVE-VR on the Oculus Rift and the Oculus team themselves who'll hopefully have the Rift HD prototype with them for me to get my greasy paws on.

Also, Schnitzel ... lots of Schnitzel.

I agree with you, I'm more excited for this than I have been for either PS4 or the onesie.

"We have incredible news to share with the community: legendary game programmer John Carmack will be officially joining the Oculus team as our new Chief Technology Officer (CTO)."

ďI have fond memories of the development work that led to a lot of great things in modern gaming Ė the intensity of the first person experience, LAN and internet play, game mods, and so on. Duct taping a strap and hot gluing sensors onto Palmerís early prototype Rift and writing the code to drive it ranks right up there. Now is a special time. I believe that VR will have a huge impact in the coming years, but everyone working today is a pioneer. The paradigms that everyone will take for granted in the future are being figured out today; probably by people reading this message. Itís certainly not there yet. There is a lot more work to do, and there are problems we donít even know about that will need to be solved, but I am eager to work on them. Itís going to be awesome!Ē
