Just played the first 2 hours of HL2 on the Rift. It's how it's meant to be played .. totally enveloping and immersive. I'd forgotten how good it was.

I re-installed it in anticipation. I'm hoping Ravenholm will be proper shit-you-up good.

Yours can't be far off now Phattso surely. They claim to be aiming for completion of all Kickstarter orders by the end of May.

I'd hope it won't be too much longer, but I was one of the latecomers to the Kickstarter signing up just a few days before the end so I get what I deserve for being a dirty, filthy doubter I guess. ;)

We have a teaser video for the new vorpX Drivers which add Oculus Rift support to your existing game library. We thought Crysis 3 might be fun:

..the full, in-depth Preview will be up soon. It's an impressive product though.

We have a gang. And you're not invited to it. Because you smell.

We should organise something actually, plenty of Euro peeps with Rifts AND those without who want to see it.

I tried one of these today and it seriously is vomit inducing.

Apparently you can get used to it, but it's quite a barrier to entry i can tell you. I don't suffer from motion sickness, or vertigo. I can handle roller-coasters and high speed things..i play all sorts of games with ease, but this...

For the 15-20 mins i used it, it's taken me about 9 hours to feel better, and even now i'm still slightly nauseous.

It's a surreal experience, i felt very disjointed when i 'emerged', like my depth perception had been messed with. It took me a little while to relearn how to judge the distance of objects on my desk and pick them up again.

I'm glad i witnessed it first-hand, it is trying to do something really quite engaging, but I don't think i would go back in if offered.

The experience in everyone I've had try it varies massively. A lot depends on what you try first and how smoothly you're transitioned into the thing. I've witnessed 30secs being too much for one, and no effects for others (even non gamers).

If you're slapped straight into Half-Life 2, you're gonna feel ill - but some of the calmer demo's allow easier adjustment. This seems to help a lot. And yes, you do very quickly adjust to the feeling.

Bottom line, it proves the Rift is doing something successfully that nothing else before it has done, fool your brain into thinking it's somewhere else. Whether it likes it not is another matter.

Also, this is a Dev Kit - not lateral motion tracking, low resolution and early SDKs - I suspect your experience once the Consumer version rolls around next year will differ greatly.

Pff, I used to live at the edge of Molenbeek and took the metro to work
It may be bad for Belgium but overall... nothing to shy away from when there's a rift waiting at the other end

I've been getting excited about Star Citizen again, this would be fantastic in that game.

    You better watch out.
    You better beware.

Despite being narked that johnny-come-latelys that bought in March this year got their units before I did, El Rifto finally landed today.

Just spent an hour messing with it, and the inevitable procession of people here at work that formed an orderly queue to give it a go. Very impressive. Feel sick though - haven't really configured it for myself yet, and my Macbook doesn't appear to be up to the task of hitting 60fps, so not surprising.

Got a work trip this week coming, but when I get back it'll be new PC time and then Riftageddon.

So much potential, even in the few demos I've tried in it already. Can't wait to start messing about with it myself. I won't be happy until I can build something that can make people vomit and/or void their bowels. Obviously people with a predilection for shitting themselves in chairs already should avoid whatever I make.
