    Plume

I'm pretty sure I'll be adding a plume-related conspiracy theory to the relevant thread within the week. It was aliens really, and NASA are mounting a cover-up on behalf of the NWO. Better still - all the money the bankers stole has been packed into curiosity and sent to Mars for safe-keeping.

This is a partial, unofficial compilation of the currently-released full quality descent and landing pictures taken by the Mars Descent Imager (MARDI) on the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL).

So the last days have been kind of boring, they're still testing the rover out, but next week should be fun.
They've looked under the rover and it's clear, so they are going to take the rover for a spin. They are going to drive forward for about a rover's length, make a 90 turn and then reverse 2 meters.
Before that though, they are going to shoot their lazorr at a rock about 3 meters away.

Also, they've decided whereTF they want to drive to first.

Glenelg is a special spot, as it links 3 patches of different uhm geology together.

It's actually driving away from mount Sharp, where they want to end up.
They still have a few weeks of testing ahead, and driving to Glenelg is going to take a few weeks, it's a 2 year mission I guess.

    Curiosity Rover ‏@MarsCuriosity

Yes, I've got a laser beam attached to my head. I'm not ill tempered; I zapped a rock for science: http://1.usa.gov/P7IXF1 #MSL #PewPew

First bit of disappointing news from Curiosity, apparently the wind sensor that measures how fast the wind is blowing is damaged. NASA say its not a major problem, but it does mean that the atmospheric tests they want to do wont be as comprehensive.

Gah, NASA are bloody useless aren't they? Can't do anything right these days.

I'm hoping that if there are ever any significant human settlements on Mars someday, that these rovers and probes (including the lost Russian ones) will be preserved for future generations :) Same with the landing sites on the Moon.

An important new discovery, MSL has found evidence of an ancient river bed on Mars! NASA hastily held an announcement conference. I'll get a link in a sec.
