Registered 2 years agoHave we done this before? Probably. But let's do it again. Should make for a good thread, I reckon. Going to have a bit of a think about my own list. -

Registered 7 years agoNot allowed anything after 2000 mind. And can't include the Godfather because it's too good. Don't forget to tell people you're a gurl if they criticise your choice.LB, you really are a massive geek.

Registered 2 years agoHere's my first draft. There's a couple of choices I'm expecting to take a bit of flak on.
There's some right classics I inexplicably haven't seen, need to fix that.
Mulholland Drive
Black Swan
Wild at Heart
There Will be Blood
The Godfather Part II
2001: A Space Odyssey
All the President's Men
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Airplane
Blue Velvet
I've only watched The Godfather Part II and Blue Velvet recently, so that may be the new factor weighing in on those a bit. Perhaps not though, especially in the case of The Godfather.
The Thing and Night of the Living Dead nearly made it, but I had to go for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I remember it as being the first film that genuinely scared me. It still does when I watch it now. The bit where she wakes up in the house and the family are at the table is utterly terrifying. And that final shot of Leatherface...
Airplane is, unless I'm forgetting something, the funniest film I've seen. It's such a shame the way the spoof movies died a total death (there are some exceptions like Black Dynamite, but that isn't really in the same league). To think in the 70s it was Airplane and The Naked Gun (another close call) and now it's stuff like the Scary Movie films.
edit: Ooh, Se7en. Forgot about that. The Truman Show is a great pick too, but I don't think it'll be in my list.

Registered 4 years agoOk proper list off the top of my head. Not in any order, and there's about five in there I'm not happy about, and there's a lot of films I've liked more in the past, but not so much now (maybe because I've sickened myself with them like - the original Star Wars trilogy for example) but here it is anyway.
Blade Runner
Jaws
Predator
Old Boy
Alien
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Dark Knight
Goodfellas
George of the Jungle
LOTR
Borat -

Ohg yeah pulp fiction as well. And Kill Bill. I really like Twilight Samurai and Ghost in the Shell 2 Innocence as well. And Ninja Scroll. And shit loads more.
Its impossible to have a top ten to be honest. Films are far too dependent on mood. -
