    or nurture?
For success at the Olympic games, MacArthur believes there are going to be many other factors — cultural, social and economic — also at play. Indeed, Jamaican experts believe in this ‘combination’ theory of success.

For example, Dr Errol Morrison, an endocrinologist and the president of Jamaica’s University of Technology, says that diet may play a crucial role — particularly the staples of salt fish, yams and bananas which are rich in protein, carbohydrate and vital sources of energy.

Dr Morrison says Jamaican youngsters grow up on a diet that is so beneficial they might as well take a daily dose of steroids. And such nutrition may well boost any genetic advantage that Jamaican athletes are born with, he says.

But there is surely something else at play, too — the national will to win.

The short-term explanation for Jamaica’s success is that the country took the decision to pour its resources in recent years into getting better at its most winnable events. And in its case, these events are the sprints.

Last white winner was Allan Wells I think? So Caribbean and American success is clearly due to a wee injection of Scottish genes into imported Africans in the 1700/1800s.

Next Racist Thread suggestion - are Asian eyes better at tracking ping pong balls?

Its just as racist as saying that all black guys have massive cocks. One racist myth that is rarely protested about.

I don't think it's inherently racist to ask these questions. In fact I think it's important to be able to ask these questions without being accused of racism.

Quite a lot of genetic research is limited because it probes into these awkward areas and that is wrong. Political correctness has become such that you can't even discuss the differences between races, leading to the blatantly nonsensical assertion that "everyone is the same". That's prohibitive to us understanding more about what makes us who we are, and the curing of race specific diseases, which couldn't exist if we were "all the same".

A truly non-racist world would be one where we able to celebrate the differences and embrace them, not shy away from them and pretend they don't exist.

In a truly non racist world we wouldn't even ask as we would perceive no difference surely?

An Asian guy I used to work with claimed that the Asian body frame is more advanced/efficient.

He didn't go into details though.

You'd still be able to perceive that someone has different coloured skin to you, but presumably you'd regard it only as important as, say, eye colour.

If you believe in genetics then you have to believe there are differences between different races. They are absolutely connected.

"Is it racist to say that "Black people are better at running than white people"?" Yes

However: Is it racist to say that "Black athletes (runners) are better at running than white people"? Then it isn't.

    Did it need a thread?

Well, "racist" is such a strong term. On reflection, I'd just say "short-sighted." Or a question that hasn't really been thought through properly.

It's population thinking rather than racism. Elite athletes from certain black populations are currently dominating running events - distance runners from the East African highlands, sprinters from America and the Caribbean. Doesn't mean if you pick a black person at random and a white person at random you'll be able to say for sure one can outrun the other.

Kenyans have greater lung capacity from living at high altitude.

Athletes of West African descent have more fast-twitch muscle fibers than white counterparts, hence their dominance in explosive events. (Even the fastest British athletes are generally of Jamaican descent so that 'better diet' theory is sketchy at best)

It's not racist to claim certain races are more predisposed to excellence in certain sports then others, and no that doesn't mean 'any random black person is faster than any random white person'.

Since you bumped the thread I can only assume you're telling yourself to get a life. Which I guess makes sense since you're the only person who you actually know and can thus make a judgement about whether they have a life. I'm not aware of any undead posters though, so I think it's safe to assume we all have "a life" although that's quite poor grammar, I'd say "we're alive".

I don't know what a strange animation has to do with the discussion though, is that why you're telling yourself to get a life? because you're posting weird videos with no context? Is it safe to assume that you are in fact undead then? since as previously mentioned only you can make that judgement and the undead don't have lives.

Please don't use the delete button, think of the children.
