Just watched the trailer. Big fat meh. Pretty, but not much prettier than the previous one. Gameplay looks dull. Next gen? Could have fooled me.

I'll probably get it though since it is the only military/MP PvP game I ever buy. Hope the MP will be more than some new maps.

If I was not going to get this on next gen it would just feel like a large BF3 expansion to me,only having to unlock everything all over again.

EA probably thought lets get it out on current gen, then double the profits when they all go and buy it again on next gen.Wonder if your BF4 Premium would carry over from this gen to next gen?So you could be stung pretty bad in the wallet.

Isn't it a bit like when Twilight Princess came out on Gamecube and then also on Wii...?

Not as nice as I used to be

Well, PC premium doesn't carry over to the 360, so I doubt they would be that generous for the new consoles either. An utter scam having to pay for premium twice...

EA are wankers, so no doubt that is their thinking.

I'd pay to play that with an unlockable M60.

I wish some devs would rock the fps boat. We can't be stuck with campaigns like that for another 6 years.

You can imagine next gen COD will be just like that only more Hollywood.

Respawn, who knows, they started it all back at Infinity Ward/2015.

Something new please. AI that actually hunts you down and moves rather than planted target practice.

That would require investing in some decent AI. The General CoH crowd just want lots of bright lights and go online for anything else.

But how much longer can COD style campaigns entertain? I don't mind playing IW COD games as they are well polished, but pretty much every other developer's imititations are just dire. BF games could have a spectacular single player if they dared to be different (and invested heavily), but no doubt it will be another COD clone

The market is screaming out for another balls to the wall deathmatch game. None of this shoddy arse free to play crap, a full priced multiplayer, spawn, pick up items, shoot, respawn game.

People are still breeding and new yoof are constantly being produced. So the answer is... FOREVER!

Best hope is in Arm. A full on going dynamic campaign.

Big BF fan but I play on console so I will only be paying for it on a new xbox or ps4 not on the current gen. this may change if the new consoles don't get a minimum 24 v 24 on multiplayer. If its not then its a definite no buy.

Still rate BF1942 on the PC as the best of the series.

No way! Either bf2 or bfbc2! Actually I'll go with bfbc2.

Of course you're entitled to a wrong opinion. :)

I really enjoyed it when it first came out, but have you played it recently? It hasn't aged well IMO...

For me, it has to be BC2. Playing BF games without destruction just feels wrong now

I could probably write an essay on everything I think is wrong with Bad Company 2 (I sort of did once but best not go into that) but it's probably my all time favourite multiplayer game.

    Portable view - Never forget.

Indeed, I can rant about the game like I despise it, but at heart it is just so much fun

Well naturally it has aged, but I would place it on the context of its release. Spent far more time on it than any other MP game.

I'm also entitled to be so right that I'm beyond your horizon. :)

If they could fuse Bad Company 1 gameplay, with Bad Company 2 destruction and BF3 soldier movement.I'd be a happy chappy.

I was not as good at BC2 as I am at BF3, but I have more highlight memories of BC2.

World War Two, please. If not, Napoleonic warfare. Yes, you heard.

Napoleonic would be awfully dull, firing weapons that aren't accurate. Although it would level the playing field for Alastair... :)

Napoleonic Battlefield. I'll be on the hill firing the cannon into the masses.

What would all the kids do with no lock on weapons?

What about the customisations! What would we all do without being able to add half a dozen silly attachments?! Well I guess there were bayonets.

Not a lot in the way of vehicles either, erm horses?

    Portable view - Never forget.

I wouldn't rate the effectiveness of a Napoleonic medpack too highly either.

Bayonets, drums, baguettes, different hats, moustaches, and if Sharpe is to be believed, an array of beautiful women littered across the landscape just waiting to fall into your arms.

As for horses... different coloured ones. Medpacks are for wimps. You get hit, the limb gets hacked off and you fight on with a peg arm/leg.

    BC2 was the pinnacle!

Let's not forget '43 either. A simple yet extremely entertaining BF, imo. Let down by lack of ongoing support, though. My 2nd fave anyway.

Any evidence of any kind of tutorial levels for land and air vehicles...? I'd rather have that than a SP campaign.
    +1
This quote, from the interview on the front page, suggests that they are trying to make the SP a bit more of a tutorial for multiplayer...
We see single-player also as a training ground for multiplayer. And we want people to have the opportunity to try things out and experience stuff you will experience in multiplayer. There are also a lot of people - some evil people call them noobs or lame - who don't want to play multiplayer, because it's very competitive. You end up in a session where everyone just shoots you in the head, and you feel daunted by this competitive landscape. People want to have an experience, and if you're afraid of all these people who are flying around and shooting at you, single-player is a way for you to get that experience without feeling completely bashed in the head.

Not as nice as I used to be
