Pre order MOH warfighter on Origin to get BF4 beta access. Wonder if it be the same fuck up as last time :)?

    http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/07/14/battlefield-4-beta-advertised-on-origin

So maybe October 2013 release then

So how does this fit in with next gen consoles launch date? Or will next next consoles come out 2014 or consoles out sept time, beta October, game out November ? Frostbite engine is scalable, according to Dice was meant for the next gen consoles so easily moved over to the new hardware

I think it would be a next-gen release, probably with a new frostbie 2.5 (i mean if they're going to move to next-gen they have to make some adjustements) but honestly, what i was really waiting for is

    BATTLEFIELD : Bad Company 3 ;)

Publishers and devs complain about the cost of making games but continue to keep making new games instead of expanding the game they already made. Do devs never take a step back and actually think about ways of cutting the cost of game development?

Devs probably wouldn't mind constantly improving a core game for a couple of years or more. The publishers are pushing this as they can't see long term value and would rather take the plunge with a £40 retail release over community building with free maps and paid expansions. They would rather you spend £80 each year if you include the season pass DLC or Premium as EA put it.

I think they should separate single and multiplayer. Sell a campaign mode every year if you must on it's own and also let people purchase the muliplayer on it's own but give that longer legs of a few years and support it with free maps and paid expansions worthy of your money to build a great community around the series.

The hype got me with BF3. Won't be falling for that again.

It would be nice if Dice finished BF3 before starting on BF4.

Why? They never finished BF2 and shoved BF2142 out the door with all the fixes that should of been in BF2 it's just EA doing what they always do.

They only just came out with premium and only one of the promised DLCs. That's what I mean.

I'm not talking about fixes, I'm talking about content.

Unless it adds proper mod support I don't see any actual need for it. But hey what do I know this is a world where COD sells millions.

I'd prefer Bad Company 3, Mirror's Edge 2 or even Rallisport Challenge 3 over BF4 but I'll try and keep and open mind.

A launch title with 64 player online could be really tempting though on the consoles. Cut the premium bollocks, give us standard servers and i be willing to have a look. And just be a battlefield game!

All BF3 really needs are some maps which are actually good. The Karkand ones are decent, and Caspian is ok. Apart from that you've got nothing.

Would love it if it was a WW2 game, no lock on weapons, no crappy vehicle unlocks, 64 player massive battles. Big military history era at least we can have British,US,Russian,German,Japanese teams and maybe one Italian character. Be better than the boring us v Russia, more different types of vehicles and variation in weapons
Maps from western Europe, northern Africa,Russia, Pacfic islands. Shit even add in air Superiorty modes like battle of Britain, midway island,Russia v Germany tank Superiorty mode from eastern front battles
    If not then Vietnam.

Or in other words go remake BF1942 without all the ADD unlocks that infest games for no good reason.

1942 with Frostbite destruction could be rather good.

I don't understand why they don't let you play as the Iranians or something in multiplayer, all they'd need to do is bring in the character models from the SP mode and add a couple of faction-specific guns or gadgets.

I miss the variation between factions that you used to get, like how the NVA used to have pungi sticks in BF:Vietnam.

It better fucking be for next-gen.

I only finally bought BF3 a few weeks ago, as I was waiting for the colossal amount of glitches and bugs in the beta to be addressed (and I was secretly hoping to afford a new computer by then, but that'll not happen for a while yet so I caved in). 64 players is the way Battlefield is meant to be played.

I'm thinking it's a staggered release with MoH. One one year, the other the next.

Meaning this is a storm in a teacup and them advertising it now is a bit of a stupid mistep.

Seem a bit packed now. MoH releases, no doubt with a season pass. BF4 beta sometime next year. While this is all going on, BF3 is still getting the map packs. How much money do they think people have, and wonder why people trade in games. Not forcing you of course but personally, it puts me off buying games when things go this fast, map packs might as well be a rental fee these days.

Back to BF4, I think they don't want to be left behind if next gen consoles are coming next year. Still got COD next gen, who knows what that will be like and Respawns new IP. Whoever gets the jump may enjoy a good spell if consumers are looking for something spectacular but safe in the FPS category.

I saw a good post on Reddit which basically said the maps are good but the flag placement is terrible. It's a point I agree with, the flags are badly placed at times. The console version has really dragged the potential of this game down imo.

That said, I still love it and it's still a fantastic game. It's a great game with problems, every so often you still get some amazing moments.

David Goldfarb leaves Electronic Arts-owned Swedish shooter studio after working on Bad Company 2 and last October's modern FPS.

The Battlefield franchise has lost one of its top designers. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 lead designer David Goldfarb has told Kotaku that he has left DICE, the wholly owned Electronic Arts studio based in Stockholm, Sweden.

@ecureuil The same could be said of the PC version draggin the console version down. In reality both statements are right and wrong, designing a game that's going to be so different on certain platforms must be a complete ball-ache and in my opinion is responsible for the game feeling like a bit of a jack of all trades.

It all comes down to the player count, as has been mentioned you have maps that are clearly designed for console (operation metro) and then others clearly made for PC (operation firestorm) with both sets of players then having to make do....

What I don't buy is that consoles couldn't handle the extra players, would the xbox really grind to a halt if you added even another 8 players per team? Either way when you see the amount of thought that goes into a COD map for example, the way dice have just 'made do' and shrunk 64 maps to work on console, I just don't think was the best idea.

I'm actually really getting into Battlefield 3 again, but still on the larger maps when people don't work together it just becomes and exercise in frustration

I am interested to see what lessons they learnt from bf3, whether they realised a lot of BF fans were put off by some of their design decisions or whether they were happy with the massive increase in sales and new fans

@Anthony_UK: Given that Mag can handle 256 player matches I expect BF3 could handle 8 more players. I believe they said that they'd have to make too many compromises to get more players on console. I don't know what those compromises would be but I'd be fine with less annoying lighting effects if it meant more players :)
    Alas it's never that simple.

Another Battlefield? Too bad. I had more fun with BFBC2 than BF3.
