Somehow after the affront to the eyes the original PS3 was they've managed to revise it twice into something more ugly both times.

Don't like the look of that

Are you sure that's not a slim that someone has scored lines into?

Looks like he's covered it with the corrugated packing you get in a box of Matchmakers.

Looks ugly as hell, still, if it's quieter I'll be all over it.

Who gives a fuck what it looks like?  Anyway it looks the same as the existing slim.

@muttler I don't, I already have one. Just, look at it though.

I like it. It looks retro.

It looks like a pre school kid tried to make a Megadrive out of corregated cardboard.

Cleaning chocolate out of those ridges will be hell.

Hmmm - not sure about the ridges (cooling?) and is it a top-loading blu-ray drive - like the PS2 slim?

I'd happily pay a premium for a new box that also supports PS2 games.

Otherwise I'll continue to opt for launch NTSC 60GB models, which are diminishing in number and less reliable but games playing functionality is important in a box I own solely for the purpose of playing games.

Trip over it? Marcus Fenix is taking cover behind it.

    Ugly

Edit: and that's coming from a Sony fanboy, not an Xbox troll ;P

Not much PPL actually thought about that, but the 16GB version, might be based on a solid-state storage, much like the XBOX 360 S 4GB version, so it would be faster than a normal hard drive, but with mandatory installs, PPL have to get a hard drive for that bad boy so they can play games.

Honestly the volume of the HDD doesn't matter that much, i can afford a much better 500 GB WD Black drive and get the most out of my PS3 by helping it stream textures and load games much faster.

PS: I don't have a PS3, but i might as well take a look at Sony's next-gen console, but i think it is more up to my friends list, so yeah... ;-)

With a 16GB one I wouldn't even be able to back up my Vita. ;)

Looks like a strange design choice to me, although the appearance of a home console is by no means one of my major concerns when buying one. That said, I prefer sliding discs into a slot or a slide-out tray rather than a top loading disc tray, if that is indeed what it is. Weird.

For some reason after clicking the top link I had an overpowering taste of vomit.

Surely the main Eurogamer site isn't that bad?

    ... to this?

I know you only briefly glance at your games console when you turn it on and off or when you pop a game or Blu-ray disc in, but that's genuinely ugly!

The top two slim designs are so lovely compared to this new lump of plastic.

To be fair it's hardly the most glamorous of photos and all the PS3 designs are ummm... avant-garde, I don't think it looks significantly worse.

To be fair, the first two ones are professional shots, while the third is some phone camera monstrosity. Better compare them to this one.

I may be in the minority here but i don't think it's that bad at all. The clearer images helps wonders and if it slides to the side then i think that works better than a pop-up lid. Plus, and i'm not 100% sure, but the ridges may be there for sound dampening effect from the disc spinning? Like i say not sure but would kind of make sense.
