Apologies if this is a duplicate thread - I did try searching the forum but nothing came up.

Paradox Interactive are shortly releasing a medieval combat equivalent of Battlefield, called Wars of the Roses, and they're now taking signups for the beta, in case anyone is interested.

More info about the game can be found here:

    http://www.paradoxplaza.com/games/war-of-the-roses

You can sign up for the beta through their site. Or, if you fancy helping out a WotR geek (me), you can help me secure my beta place by signing up through my unique link (if I get 5 signups I get a guaranteed beta): http://www.waroftherosesthegame.com/?ref=9a7ed21a14a

    Thanks :)

Is this basically going to be another Mount and blade? If so, yes yes yes!

Got my beta code just now. Signed up after I heard a bit of talk regarding a closed beta on Rebel FM and thought it sounded really fun.

Signed up a bit back as well and just got an email through with the code for Steam. It does sound fun, hopefully something along the lines of Mound and Blade and the control sounds interesting too.

Also, from the trailer, arrow physics look pretty special !

I initially thought a game based on the Wars of the Roses would be pretty good, saw the video on Steam and still thought the possibility of a game based on the Wars of the Roses would be pretty good, I just wonder if anyone will ever make one.

Why do the promo screenshots show people walking around in jousting armour? They do realise that the guy wearing it can only see out of it if he's leaning forward and can't move from the chest upwards right? The guy wearing it should be running around like the special kid at school.

Why are they showing people using shields? Thought this was supposed to be WotR? Bucklers would be ok, sure but fuck off great round shields? No. Too many archers are wearing kettle hats. Not enough glaives and bills being used either. I don't think it would have harmed the devs to do some historical research for a game based on a specific period of history would it?

Deflected blows and random defends, this game is frustratingly unbalanced, everyone seems to just bundle on the armour, all you see is flashes of blue 'defends'

Great looking game, great animations, could be fantastic gameplay but the defensive gameplay needs a looking at.

Sadly you're quite right! At the moment the game Chivalry is looking more fun.

Really enjoying this at the moment. Any other EGers play it?

As long as you're willing to only play as the house of York then you're more than willing to join...

Despite all my criticisms I've been enjoying it since getting it with the Humble bundle the other week. Had a few games with Andy and they've been a really good laugh.
