does anyone know how to rip 'hidden' tracks on CD's?

i want to rip a Hybrid album as one. but also to include the hidden track which starts at minus 6 minutes (you have to rewind from first track)

so i will have one file, including the '0' track... :|

    any one got a clue?

If they're hidden, I don't think they were meant to be found.

what is hidden, is now found.

i don't think they composed it for nothing...

i have come across it ripped as a single track before, i'd like like to do it, except as part of a raw rip as one.

I don't think you should do it.

They're usually on a separate session, on OSX that'll show as a different disc on the desktop, not sure about windows.

    seen that, hence "looks complicated".

thing is, i don't own the CD yet, it was dependant upon being being to do this, though it seems only some drives can rip into the pregap and i don't know if mine will or not...

that, and the fact the CD is still holding up remarkably well - it's still £10 for a used copy - and £17 for a new copy. not bad for a 9 year old CD, though it is a masterpiece - just don't want to spunk the money down the drain. hmmm.

i want the cd ripped as one big file, including the hidden track at the start so it will all flow as one.

i don't think this exists in the world. i can easily rip the CD as one without the hidden track, and it is already available to download in set form as a promo - but with an annoying interjecting promo announcer and without the zero track.

I think Exact Audio Copy will do this. But is dependant upon your hardware, some drives wont do it.

compiling music into one file is pointless though. I cant think of a single reason why you would want to do this...

Didhe mean in the world? :'D

To be fair to him, you could have told him to add a "make website this your homepage" prompt or something ;p

Why don't you just download all the tracks and buy the album?

err... some styles of music demand this. breaking them up into files would be sacrilege.

it's an album, not a compilation of singles.

    Hybrid - Morning Sci-fi.

the hidden track is "Lights Go Down, Knives Come Out". i have it as an album cut, but that's not the point.

Many, if not all, music players have an option for seamless payback if you're worried about silence inbetween tracks. Otherwise just do what oters have said, you've got nothign to lose.

What a pile of shite, as long as you have gapless playback then what difference does it make?

    1. Put CD in CD player
    2. Rewind to -6mins
    3. Plug a mic into your PC
    4. Stick mic up against the speaker
    5. Press record on your PC
    6. Press play on CD player
    7. Bask in the knowledge that you are better than the rest of the bottom feeders and you have not defiled musical history by splitting an album up into tracks. You know, like the artists do.

If you rip it as the individual tracks contained on the album and listen with gapless playback then there is zero difference to your listening experience except that ripping will be simpler and you'll be able to skip tracks.

He's talking about gapless playback. so you wouldn't have to compile the album to a single track to get seamless playback.
