obviously Heat is a main contender here, and indeed it is awesome. but anyone know any other good films of this type. i'm sure there must be tons...

The Score is a good example, with Bobby De'Niro/Ed Norton. it's not violence-based but the thrill element is there, which is essential for the genre.

The Sting is my most favouritest film ever. And it terrifies me that some fuckface will eventually remake it, probably starring Shia LeBoef and Colin Farrell.

Love Matchstick Men. And talking of grifter movies, The Grifters is also awesome. For a true crime story Owning Mahoney with Phillip Seymour Hoffman is absolutely great, manages to combine dreary ang gripping all at once.

Edit- It goes without saying The Sting is one of the best films of all time in any genre.

Heist itself, perhaps ? Lovely twisty-turny plot with bluff-upon-bluff.

You can read this ? You've helped ruin the place. :(

Brokeback Mountain is a brilliant film about the illegal act of sodomy in 60s America.

A recent good one you might not have seen is Animal Kingdom. It's Australian about a young lad trying to survive in a criminal family. Sort of in the category.
Also from the southern hemisphere, Stander was pretty good, and very stylish.

Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
    Assassins
    The First Great Train Robbery

I'm not saying all of these are good.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

Just as well you didn't say it was his first line in the film, cause there may well be a thread somewhere on the internet that may well have a lengthy debate that is is not and is not the best one liner ever.

Don't know what website that is though.
