Speaking of productivity apps, can anyone recommend an app with a decent simple to-do list widget? Astrid used to do the job nicely but seems have turned itself into a bloated project management suite.

I just use one called "tasks". Seems to work well and syncs with your Google account. Not sure how much use the free version is though.

Is there any advantage to buying from the direct from Google over buying from a shop?

Nexus 4 back in stock on UK Google Play store. "Ships in 1-2 weeks"

Let's see how long that lasts.

I bought one and I actually think its awesome. I hooked a mini usb laptop mouse via an OTG cable and it was practically a netbook with a touchscreen.

Since the other half had the laptop I was browsing like a boss and it made short work of an extended SSH session with my headless linux box, when i upgraded couchpotato to couchpotatoserver (v2).

Only £20 and for me its totally worth that even if I only use it once a month

The typing took a little getting used to, as I think there's actually a bit too much travel on the keys, or they're a bit too spongy at least but yeah it's really good otherwise.

You can add/remove extra screens you know ;-)
Not unless you use a 3rd party launcher like Nova or Apex, says Google. Tell us how to do it with the stock Jellybean launcher!

Oops. Running Nova Prime here; I tend to forget what's normal and what's not. Apologies.

Got my nexus 7 earlier this week.
It really is a lovely bit of kit.
Even better now I've got myself an app to receive/send texts while it and my phone are both on my Wi-Fi since my signal is shit - I can leave my phone charging where it has signal and just use this instead.

PocketCasts update incoming. Android first too, iOS later. More of this please.

Completely redesigned, completely awesome, modern Android user interface.
Tablet support. We’ve targeted Nexus 7 and 10, and it looks great on others too.
Cross-device syncing of your subscriptions, playlists and play states on every Android device you own. We *love* this feature.
Remote backup. You can now drop your phone in a toilet and not lose your podcasts. Buying a new phone and setting it up has never been easier.
Actual smart dynamic playlists. Want a list of every unplayed, downloaded podcast? Right here. How about a list of video episodes that you haven’t downloaded yet? Easy. Manual playlists are here as well for the super picky among you.
A lot more. But we’re not telling the rest until we release it.

Just reserved a 32gb Nexus 7 at Curry's for collection tomorrow morning. I'm all excited now tee hee :)

Still pondering which case to get though. The £20 keyboard one or the Poetic one. Anyone care to give feedback on these two?

Also can anyone advise the best route with regards to connecting a 360 controller as I have both wireless and wired ones?

    13.5hrs to go.......:champ:

Lol. Daley Thompsons decathlon killed my speccie keyboard back in the day :)

Does it add much bulk when used as a case the pictures on Amazon aren't great at all?

Nah, it's slim and light. It can feel a bit fragile - especially since the keys are quite spongy, but it works well once you get used to the size of the thing.

    Cheers

Hmm, not so sure about that, it's a bit chunky; I was thinking of something like the Surface keyboard cover.

    Anyone seen one of those?

Having trouble with hotmail on my 32gb Nexus 7 - my mum used it to check her account, but now it simply won't let me log out of it. When I try to log out, it downloads some file which does bugger all. Probably being thick, but just can't work out how to get back into my own damn account.

Try logging out of MSN instead of Hotmail itself.
