Is there an advantage to their connector pin other than the no up or down thing.

Can't think there would be since they still plug into usb sockets so your always going to be limited by the USB interface.

It's an EU agreement that Apple signed up to, but Apple got around actually implementing it properly by making a 15 Lightning to Micro
USB Adapter so you can charge an iDevice using a standard charger.

    It also carries analogue audio...

Other than that it's larger than micro USB, the same speed or slower than USB 2 (when other devices are moving to USB 3 which is 100x faster), a fuck ton more expensive to produce because it has a processor in it; which is designed to limit 3rd party production (so they can sell more themselves); and needs an adapter to plug into a PC.

They just stuck on a fast sounding name and sold it as awesome. It received a round of applause.

@gareth886 you need a otg cable and you can just plug and play with your ps3 pad, also you could root you nexus and you could use the pad wireless with apps like six axis on play store

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=otg&hasWorkingJavascript=1

Im thinking about rooting mine as not all games support joypad controls but once rooted you can customise any game to support i think.
Thats right. My note is rooted and I bought the sixaxis app from play. It allows you to connect a ps3 controller via bluetooth and also setup touch profiles and assign them to buttons etc.

    tutorial
You guys are awesome. Thanks for the links.

Just one more thing. The only reason I will be be rooting is to use the PS3 controller wirelessly. If I root it, it won't affect anything else like updates and stuff, right?

Also, if something goes wrong with your Nexus and you need to return it, remember to unroot it and reset factory settings, or your warranty will be invalid.

Anyone else find chrome for the nexus to have serious performance issues? I've reverted to dolphin browser for the moment, it's frustrsting because the chrome has that nice zoom to confirm touch area feature.

Not for me, no issues at all with Chrome, it syncs awesomely and it's very fast.

    Are you running Currents?

    @urban

I've ditched Chrome for Dolphin also. Was getting too slow (clearing cache did not help) and I missed Dolphins extension support for LastPass etc. Only thing I miss is the Zoom to confirm feature really.

While I love the chrome desktop browser, I find the android version to be slow so use opera which I also use on my S2. Dolphin is awesome, did they ever sort the battery suck issues? Was its only downfall.

I use Dolphin as my main browser on my phone, but I've had no problems with Chrome on the Nexus so far.

Finally caved in an bought a 32 gig 7.

Can't seem to find any decent widgets. It doesn't have as many stock ones as my HTC phone. Any suggestions? I don't like all the empty space.
Appy Geek, Currents, most news/email/Twitter apps, etc - of course these can also be added to the 'lock' page (or whatever it is called), and as I keep my apps on the front page in folders there is no need for all that space in any case it seems?!

On a side note, my son's got a Playbook each for Christmas (from their mum, I would never be so crass...) not a bad bit of kit (for the kids, gaming only), but the Nexus 7 pisses on it from an incredibly high hight...

Going to pick up a tablet tomorrow and it seems to be a choice between this, the Kindle Fire HD & ipad mini. I am leaning towards this though. I use a S3 phone so like the Android set up.

What would you guys recommend, I have had an ipad 2 in the past?

If you're on Android with your phone then it has to be a Nexus hands down.

For your moneys worth, Nexus 7 definitely.

Anyone had any experience with the Nexus 10? My mate wants one for a work tablet (room measurements etc). Is it as fast and slick as the 7 or a bit clunkier?

Indeed. He's desperate for one, even has a Nexus checker app set up so he'll know the moment they come in. Anyone know what kind of time frame you'll have when they come back in stock before they run out again?

Just got the splashtop gamepad app, its gift, can now go to bed and play my pc games on my nexus. Streams brilliantly and i have a wireless dongle for my xbox controller which works no problem even upstairs(pc in sitting room downstairs). With a toddler in the house my game time in front of the tv has been severely cut and this is brilliant for me. Takes a bit of tweaking to get it right but well worth it, have tried Skyrim, mark of the ninja and farcry3, all worked flawlessly. Highly recommend to anyone who just cant get the time to sit down and play games without disruption.

The Nexus 7 makes me want a bigger phone. My S2 seems really small and crap now :\

Are there restrictions on widgets that can be placed on lock screens? I would like to put a flip board widget on there but it doesn't show up, along with some others.

@Pinky_Floyd it seems as if there's a difference between the two. Not all a apps have lock screen widgets

Probably not the best place to ask this, but what's the best HDMI-out tablet at the mo?

I've been so close to buying a Nexus over the past few months, but I'd like to be able to connect it to a TV to stream films etc.
