Finally just got my 32gb Nexus. Only messed around around for 30 mins and I love it ! Just a quickie question, I know there's no 15 Google play credit or Transformers 3 included now but has anyone else got the Ice Movie free ? Just never seen it advertised as being included. Not 100% sure if its just a streaming version or included on the actual device but I'll try it when I'm not near a wi-fi signal.

Just a question, have there been any updates to jellybean since 4.1.2??

If not I'd say for anyone to root and flash a new ROM as mine has been like a new toy ever since I stuck a custom ROM on..

My local PC World has a 16GB for 169. Seems that the Play store charges 10 for shipping, so I'd be paying the same. So any reason not to get the one from PC World? There haven't been any hardware revisions since the prices came down have there?

Its great for streaming over your home network if you have loads of files saved on a PC.

Just don't waste money buying apps for this as there is no need.

I'd honestly go for the pc world one. At least if it develops a problem you have a fairly easy returns procedure.

Dice player plays everything direct from my smb shares. Even streams and plays the mkv tv shows and films.

    Tis free, the best price.

I just meant don't pay money when free apps work.

As mentioned, dice player works fine. Many other alternatives. I use plain old vlc media player and browse my PC shares using ES file browser. There is also the dlna/ps3mediaserver route.

When you opt to play a file fron the shares in es file browser does it download first?

With my nexus s I went thr route of a custom kernal that supported cifs.

Dice played + galaxy note II does away with that requirement.

Well thats just amazing. Ive installed it and it does indeed do away with my need for dice. I love ability to just send anything directly to xbmc on my appletv as well.

I'm thinking about buying one of these little beasts. Problem I have is that I can get my claws on an Ipad mini 16gb for 240 which is only 40 more than a Nexus 7 32GB.

Sadly I couldn't sleep that well last night as I was thinking about which to buy!

Holy fucking hell. Just tried the Dice player on my tired old Xperia play with ancient Android and it was on par with Apps I've paid good money for on the iPad.

Hooked up tom my DLink NAS without any fuss and just started streaming films and tv shows...

I was thinking about getting on the WP8 train but now I find myself looking at video reviews of the Nexus feeling more than tempted.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

I've got a old pile of crap pay as you go phone that I barely use so I'll be starting fresh from either iOS or android.

I seem to be more tempted to get the Nexus but I think my fear is that I'll get it then feel like I'm missing out on all the iOS apps and regret not paying that extra 40.

On the same note I don't want to get stuck with apple and have to pay stupid money when I want/need to upgrade to carry on using my apps.

Oh the dilemma of the married man that wants a new toy!

Planning on picking one of these up as a Christmas present for the missus. The 32gb model is the one to get, right?

Anyone got any recommendations for cases?

Yeah I got this MOFRED one. It's really nice, quality feel despite being cheap. Fits in snuggly and comes with little stylus pen which is quite useful, well until the novelty wears off. Also a screen protector, if you use them (I don't). There is a flap on the back so you can stand it up horizontally, quite handy.

That case also had a magnet inside that takes it in and out of sleep when you open/close it. Pretty useful, though I prefer to leave it caseless at home most of the time.

Actually, that's a decent question - do I even need a case if she's unlikely to ever take it out of the house?

Yeah, whoops, forgot to mention the best feature! Yes the magnet activates/deactivates the screen when you open/close the case. I was very impressed by this, and still am. I pretend it's magic or something! :)

Hmmm...That case that Apostle linked to is the exact same one my nephew bought for his Nexus. To be totally honest, I thought it looked and felt ever so slightly large for the tablet and the front facing seemed really loose. He said the magnet on the front cover isn't as strong as the one on my case either.

I ended up buying this one:

A really nice tight snug fit, looks great and the stylus is actually rather good too.
