I'm with you, especially since they take longer to charge. I do like the convenience aspect (someone has one in the office) and I also like those desktop circular ones you slot into the tabletop holes.

    Hmmm.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

    @mrpon

I gifted this to my Nexus 5 owning brother for Christmas and he loves it so much that he bought another one for work to rest on his desk. His phones battery never runs out anymore!

... it may errs on the dearer side than the website you stumbled upon, but it really is a stylish little thing.

    : )

    ...

    : )

USB cables are a fucking pita. They only last about five minutes with me, but those are so bloody expensive.

I use a wireless charger for my Nexus 5 and love it. Doesn't seem to take any longer to charge versus cable but I haven't timed it.

    Quite a reasonable price.

I think my N7v2 has died. Ran out of charge overnight, now when I plug it in (USB only, left charger at home) I get 5 blinking lights. No battery symbol etc. Hoping it just needs an extended charge to bring it back to life....won't be able to do that until tomorrow night though.

Well my Nexus 7 has cracked under the surface of the screen. I have no idea how it happened, I'm always very careful with it... but now I can't use it. It doesn't register my presses and just permanently has itself going haywire.

Would Google be able to repair this? Does anybody have any experience of this? I've had it for nearly two years and I am going to ring Google when I get a chance (as you have to phone them, it seems).

Yep, enquired around locally and it cost 80 to put in a new screen, the whole lot. Had it back in two days too. Join a local Sell and Seek site on Facebook and get some recommendations, better than giving it to somebody on the net you don't know and probably cheaper too.

    You can buy a
replacement digitizer and have a look on youtube for how to do put it on.

Hmm, I could possibly try that but I'm notoriously terrible with anything hands-on, I'll be honest.

I'll check out a few local businesses then to see if they can fix it without ringing up Google and seeing what they can offer. Such a damn pain.

Sell it and buy the new 2013 model, it's very nice.

@thefilthandthefury I had the same thing happen. I ended up selling it for spares on eBay.

Did you get a reasonable amount? It might end up being that option for me too, sadly.

Yeah. Considering I was just going to throw it away it helped soften the sting a little bit.

I've managed to be gifted a next-to-new one by my family, who don't use it. I need to do ONE little thing on my old, broken one, however. Is there ANY way to interact with it without needing to use the touchscreen? I just want to back something up.

Anyway to do it via Google Now voice control?! Otherwise I fear you are screwed. Unless you already have a BT mouse and keyboard paired (do they even work?!)

It's worth a shot, I actually hadn't thought of that as I never use the voice controls. Will charge it back up and give it a whirl.

Any think it's worth getting a Nexus 5 now, itching for an upgrade and currently got a 4 which I like. Is the Nexus 5 a decent step up?

@jamievilla I love my Nexus 5, but you are probably better waiting for the Nexus 6.

The latest leaks suggest the next phone is going to be a 2014 update to the Nexus 5 running Android 5.0, AKA "Lion" (as in "... Bar")

@Jono62 lots of places saying February.. Shall see if I can hold out.

Did you have a 4 before that? Is it noticeably better?

I came from an Xperia Z and much prefer the Nexus 5. I don't know about the Nexus 4 unfortunately, but the 5 has converted me to the series and I will be getting the 6!

The Nexus 4 is still a great piece of kit if you can get one new.

I didn't actually know what this was! I'm not too clued up when it comes to tablets and mostly use it for one or two specific things.

Anyway, I looked it up and this sounds very promising. I've got one ordered as it's only a couple of quid so will try that, thanks!
